Need diesel help
At work we have a '92 Chevy 2500 with the 6.5L diesel.
The problem: After the truck is at operating temp, is you shut it off and let it sit for 10-15 minutes it will not start for over 6 hours. I've narrowed it down to a no-fuel situation... Can anyone help?

1st problem is you've got an old chevy diesel. The 6.5's aren't worth their weight as boat anchors (I used to have one).
But your no start problem is likely the PMD. They overheat and fail pretty regularly. There's different relocation kits out there, but the PMD's fail regardless. You can find a bunch of info here. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/index.php

I was thinking about the PMD, but i thought if it failed, it wouldnt start at all. After the engine cools, it starts again.

Could be a sign that it's on it's way out.

There is a temp sensor that will cause the engine to shut off like that you may want to check that out.

Update: It is not the PMD because it doesn't have one. The pump is all mechanical. The shut-off solenoid is working correctly...It has to be a bad pump.
