Need To Build Stripper Pole, Having Problems...

Ok, so while my fiance is down at Maxwell for some training, I decided I'd build a stripper pole for her while she's gone.

Here's the catch: the limitations of my apartment building dictate that I cannot use anything bigger than wire nails. No exceptions. Anybody have any ideas on how to build one using wire nails or similiar size hardware?

weild the bar to a flat piece of sheetmetal and then bolt the sheetmetal onto a 8x8 piece of plywood for a base .

then figure out a way to weight down the base so its stable

this way you could move it to store out of the way when its not used

No sweat. Get one of these:

http://www.scaffoldmart.com/scaffold-jacks.html

Cut a couple small pieces of plywood - one for the top and one for the bottom.

Get a piece of pipe that the jack will fit into, and 6" shorter than the floor to ceiling dimension.

Locate a ceiling joist so you don't punch through the ceiling.

One piece of plywood on the carpet, pipe on that with the jack on the top.

Piece of plywood between the jack base and ceiling.

Tighten and enjoy.

Hmm... I only have basic tools, though.

To complicate things worse, it basically has to be able to be constructed by average tools (screwdriver, hammer, nails, screws, etc.) and support 130lbs max.

It can't be too complicated cause I'm not that great mechanically.

I'm thining something on the lines of a pole held into a wood board (somehow) and another wood board holding the top and nailed into the roof...

Borrow some tools from a neighbor?

When you tell them what it's for I'm sure they'll be falling all over themselves to help a worthy cause (as long as you don't let their wives know).

So, I'm thinking this:

3" thick Plywood Square on bottom

Metal Pole

3" thick Plywood Square on top

I want to cut rings into the plywood squares to hold it in place, any ideas? The rings should hold the pole in place so it doesn't fall out.

I'm not sure how to work a scaffold jack into the design, thoughts?

A friend of mine has one of these that she made herself. (It's not as cool as it sounds... she's well above 150.)

So - for hers the bottom is actually a portable stage.... two pieces of wood separated by a space into which weights can be added. There is of course wooden structure between the two top and bottom of the stage as well. On her pole, there is no additional structure or support at the top of the pole. It's basically a lot like the picture of the truck, only less stable and potentially more private than the truck.

Maybe add the weighted stage concept to the direction you're already headed. (I also think you'll want to go with a rounded piece for the top - or at least soften the corners.)
