Torchd- You're not alone in seeking a replacement bike after a wreck this summer, I had a horse run out in front of me this July. I hit it square in the guts going about 30-40mph, don't remember if I went over or under but the bike I think went under then went another 75 feet into a barbed wire fence. Instead of replacing it immediately I decided something more cheap for around town would be good - its not, I hate it (anyone want to buy an 89 katana?). I miss the power, wind protection, darkside, and luggage (so I can ride to work). I'll be getting a replacement same make/model as soon as I gather the funds.. The bike lost was a 2005 suzuki dl1000 v-strom.

Don't know, dead?, didn't go back to ask... I wasn't really interested in the immediate aftermath, more hoping that my arm wasn't shattered (no feeling at all, in a weird position) and that my artificial hip was still in place not needing revision surgery. I ended up with a concussion, road rash on legs and one arm (wore through the jeans and armorless jacket), an extremely sore shoulder, and a bit of a limp for a few weeks.

Moral of the story - wear gear (Helmet, gloves, armored textile - or leather if you're that type - jacket & pants, boots), something unavoidable WILL eventually get in your way.

I have two.

1985 Honda Rebel 250. Bought in 1999 when I was 11 in 5 boxes of engine parts and rebuilt. Sold it to my cousin when we moved to the city. He let it sit for 11 years and it rusted up again. Bought it back in 2011, rebuilt it again, and here she is!
1999:

2011:

Also, my 2007 Yamaha r6:

Since this is a thread about bikes, and I'm not on any bike forums ha JUST JEEP FORUM BECAUSE Y'ALL ARE THE BEST

BUT..

Got the new sprockets on 16T front, 43T back, and new 530 chain put on, went for a test drive, notice my back brake was weak, could NOT FIGURE out wtf was wrong... axle was straight, chain good, etc..

Then decided to clean up the garage while I was frustrated and having beer therapy and I noticed a spacer for the chain side of the wheel laying on the ground lol... yeah.. AWESOME. I knew something was wrong just couldn't figure it out and it was RIGHT in front of my eyes the WHOLE time haha

One from my collection- 1981 Kawasaki KZ550. Great little bike and despite the displacement and age, still handles better than some of the bigger modern bikes in the twisty sections of road.
Great story behind this one, guy calls me out of the blue to tell me he has a bike he wants to sell, a local shop gave him my number. As the story goes, he bought it new in 1982, had 20+ years of reciepts and documentation. It sounded like it was at least worth a look, and the minute I saw it, I had to have it.

It's a drz250 that I made into a street tracker. Not the biggest bike, but it's fun.
Nice. Got a better pic?

I'm looking into a drz 350 or 400 this spring

Hung my street bike helmet up for good about six years ago & got back into dirt. Less chances of getting ran over by a 16 year old girl txting her BFF's while out in the woods.

you all make me miss my motorcycles. But now that I commute in typical rush hour traffic, I don't know if I would get on one for a DD again.

I did the same exact thing. I'm a lot happier now because of it

Here's my scooter. It used to race in the AMA Sportster Performance Series.
