Well... maybe it won't be so mad. I just went to the GoodYear place. I went in calmly, although I'm sure it was obvious that I was pissed. The manager was nice and polite and didn't argue at all (I'm sure it didn't hurt that someone who sure seemed like the owner was standing there.). The again, maybe sombody saw one of my million internet posts telling the world how screwed up they were yesterday. H took pictures of the tire and both wheels and said he was going to file an insurance claim and he would call me later today. So, maybe I'll get paid for a tire and two wheels. I'll keep this thread updated...

Nice, glad to hear that. Perhaps it was the 3am phone calls to the owner this morning from area codes across the country

thats understandable..i work at discount tire and the other day we had a guy with a highlander come in and he was screaming at my manager because one of my co-workers took off a wheel weight and it made a pebble chip sized scratch in the silver wheel..you could barely see it and the corrosion from the wheel weight stood out way more. either way, ended up having to get the guy a brand new wheel. im very careful not to scratch any wheels, always adjusting the duck head out so its away from the rim, not touching. and with ANY aftermarket rim, even soft 8s, i make sure i dont scratch it. its just common courtesy. customers support my pay check so i in return, do good work for them..no, its not what it sounds like

either way, that sucks man, should have taken it to discount!

My dodge has chrome ALUMINUM 18s on it, I CAN NOT find a tire place that will put the the balancing weights on the inner face of the wheel, they all insist on using the standard ones that clip to the lip on the outside. Then, when they rip it off the next time, they always manage to scratch them up more. I've given up as I can't find anyone to do it right. And for the record, not a GoodYear supporter...

I'm not a big GooodYear fan either, but they are the closest place to me with a road force balancer. So, I was going to start using them for tire balancing. Not any more!

On another note, related, a friend took his Jetta to the Goodyear store to get the tires rotated and balanced, well a genius mechanic took an impact wrench and a nut and threaded it back on te stud that way instead of starting it by hand. He crossthreaded it, then tried to get it off, they broke the stud off trying to get the lugnut off, so Then they had to replace his whole hub. They kept his car overnight with no rental and overnighted a part in.

Do you have a Discount Tire down there? When I had new steel wheels put on my Jeep, they asked whether I wanted the weights on the inside face or on the lip, and being steel wheels I didn't care so I just went with the lip. But my point is they gave me a choice. If they insist on doing the lip mount, just say "If you won't do the inner face weights, I'll take my business elsewhere." If they want your business, they should abide by your request.

I went by there and he said he hadn't heard back from his insurance company. If I haven't been contacted by Monday lunch time I will call the BBB!
