Minnesota Jeepers break the law?
My lil brother is getting ready to take is drivers test and found some interesting laws on the DMVs web site one that I thought was really funny is the following.
'In Minnetonka, Minnesota, if you drive a truck that leaves mud, dirt or sticky substances on any road, you will be considered a public nuisance who is harming the peace, safety, and general welfare of the town.' My jeep leave mud on the road some times. There are more at http://www.dmv.org/fun-stuff/bizarre-driving-laws.php

Any woman dressed in a housecoat is prohibited from driving a car. It is illegal in San Francisco to buff or dry your car with used underwear. No unoccupied vehicle may exceed 60 miles per hour. ![]()

In California, trash trucks are specifically exempt from such regulations. If you load up your pickup, haul a bunch of crap around and let it fly all over the roadway because you didn't use a tarp, etc., you can be cited. I doubt that you any driver would be cited for throwing mud off their tires. That would be like handing out speeding tickets at the Indy 500. Don't worry about it. |

The trash hauler semi trucks here in Illinois got busted for driving down the highway and garbage was flying out of their trucks. The made ALL the haulers pay to clean up and now if you show up at the dumps with no tarp on and at least 18 tarp straps holding the tarp they will send you and your company away with a big fat fine.
The local quarry has to keep the streets cleaned near them because all the trucks coming out of the quarry spread mud and gravel all over the road. The quarry has a full time job with a street sweeper driver,,,or of course be fined and not allowed to use the city streets! I am sure with all the mining going on in MN that is the reason My opinion only ![]()

I've never gotten pulled over for mud fun. But also it'd be a ****ty coincidence to get pulled over in that half mile after mudding where your tires are slingin mud everywhere.

this is a fairly common law. in the construction industry, we have to deal with it all the time.
on new construction it is the responsibility of the contractor to see that mud from the jobsite stays on the jobsite. they require sand bags around the perimiter of the job and often times grave in the last 20' or so of a dirt road before entering the roadway to knock off the mud. mddy up the street and pay a fine ![]()

As daft as some of these laws seem, you know the only reason they made it onto the books is because someone, somewhere did something really, REALLY stupid.
