I'm the Program Manager of the Infrastructure Condition Assessment Program (ICAP) for Headquarters Air Force Space Command. I lead a team of multi-discipline engineers that travel to the Bases and GSU's of the Air Force Space Command and evaluate and assess the condition of infrastructure of Mission critical facilities.

Whats the difference between a mechanical engineer and a civil engineer?

Mechanical engineers build weapons and civil engineers build targets.

I don't even use my degree.

I make more operating a petoleum pipeline...I'm just a button pusher (mouse clicker)

My brother inlaw on the other hand can't tell me what he does...top secret having to do with nuclear what-ever either bombs or reactors. He turned down 60k from IBM his first day out of Virginia Tech.

My uncle was a project manager for Raytheon. He told my brother that he could get him a job working black projects with Raytheon making at least $150k/yr, but my brother turned him down because he'd have to live in the Los Angeles area or commute 14 hrs. each way every week.

I'm going to be a Mechanical Engineer in 2 years when I graduate.

Until then, I have done 2 co-ops at a company in the engineering depatment. I have gotten experience using Pro/Engineer, a milling center, lathe, and other machine shop equipment/practices.

I'd like to be an engineer for Daimler Chrysler when I graduate.

Hey Northeastern (maybe Wentworth) ME buddy. I'm going to be a middler this coming fall, and have two co-ops to go. My first was at a company called Pollak who make aftermarket switches and whatnot for the automotive industry. I think they made the rocker switches for the older Jeeps and whatnot. It was too corporate of a working environment for me though. Where did you co-op to learn how to machine things? I'd like to learn that whole process.

I am at Northeastern.. going to be a junior this coming January.

I co-op at New Objective... www.newobjective.com

The company only has 20 people or so... 5 people in the engineering department (2 of them are co-ops). The machine shop is completely open to us and we can do whatever we want in it. All of my friends are restricted from the machine shops at their companies because of liabilities... that is why I love the small companies. Great place to work.
