Manliness in danger of extinction.

If you get caught doing something illegal, you take your lumps, and move on.

I can't understand why people think they've got the right to piss and moan and argue... especially to the degree where you're taking up a judges' and an officers' time in court. These people have actual criminals to sentence, speeding tickets are for the safety of everyone on the road. Your few hundred bucks are not worth the time wasted.

complete *******ery.

Victimless "crimes" shouldn't be. Germany seems to be getting along just fine without speed limits...

#27. Shirts get dirty. Underwear gets dirty. Pants? Pants never get dirty, and you can wear them forever.

... oh my god....

i assume there's no correlation between speeding and accidents?

Even the autobahn has speed limits. They use mobile cameras in vans... you get speeding tickets in the mail for each and every infraction.

Germany has plenty of speed limits. In town speed limits are tightly monitored and the Autobahn has posted speed limits on about 50% of it and a recommended speed limit is 130 km/h. Don't want to do it? Be prepared to share some of the fault in an accident.

Also, German drivers are light years ahead of American drivers. We get our licenses in a Cracker Jack box compared to what they have to do.

Police are much more active over there then they are here. Want to tailgate? Talk on your phone? Text whild driving? Kiss your license good-bye. Want to DUI? Say good-bye to it for years.

And I'm with you 100% LoneJeeper, today's society is one where they feel they can do anything they want and argue the punishment. If you get off, you beat the Man, if you lose you ***** and cry about it.

Integrity and honesty are all but gone in our society. Everybody wants to get ahead, no matter who they screw in the process. We live in a "me-me-me" society.

People should just man up and take their punishment. If you don't like it, maybe you won't do the crime next time (whatever it was).

And if you don't get what you expect, feel free to sue. No need to work for it.

Nope. 130 km/h is closer to 80 mph. You can feel free to go faster, and most do. BUT, in the event of an accident, you'll share part of the fault for driving above the recommended limit. Trust me, I've done entire 500 mile trips at 120+ mph, but it's the risk you take if an accident occurs. In fact, at 130 km/h you're barely passing the 18 wheelers.

Gotta agree. While it doesn't stop be from breaking the speed limit, I know if I get caught that I've got no one else to blame. For me, it's not that big of a deal to pay the fine and move on.

in germany people have to actually KNOW how to drive, edit - was wrong

and they give out tickets for more then speeding, personally I think the dumb people that tailgate at 70mph are a much bigger danger then someone who goes 15 over on the interstate but who gets the ticket? that's what's wrong with how tickets are given

Hate to be a stickler, but tickets aren't income based in Germany. Set fines across the board depending on infraction.

I have a European driver's license, that means I can speed here right?

(you're right though, the US driver's test is a joke compared to any of the Western European ones, if you want a real challenge, try taking the UK motorcycle test, makes the car test look like child's play).
