Looking for a reputable Shop

I just bought a '98 Cherokee Sport last summer and it's a lot of fun. I want to add a mild lift kit, larger wheels and a few performance enhancements. I can't seem to find a off-road shop around Chicago. Does anyone know of any good shops around Chicago?

i did all my lift with a couple of wrenches and basic stuff,
its very do-able, i did have some help, but the help was "yeah, you can take that off"
-if you want to avoid high prices i say find someone who will help you and let them help you, aftrer you do some research on what it entails though....

Butttttttttt: i completely understand not having the time, or not trusting something etc, and being stranded with a half lifted jeep in your garage. but, i am sure that many members here can help you out in your area/ tell you where to go

"Do it myself"

That's too much like WORK!
Seriously, with work, school and a house ( grass, gutters, paint, etc..) I don't get a lot of free time. I don't mind the small incapacitating projects but if I start a lift Kit, the truck is stuck until I finish.

I did my own lift 3 yrs ago, a Rubicon Express 5.5 ED, the directions said it should take about 8hrs. It took me more than twice that, and I really hate working on a car on jack stands, and rolling around on concrete, especially at my age. I remember about half way through it thinking I probably should have paid a shop to do it. The good thing about doing it yourself is how much you learn about your vehicle, but a 5.5" lift is a lot of work. I don't know if I would do it again.
Now I'm in the middle of doing a front and rear axle swap and I'm starting to feel the same way, it's a lot of work.

I suggest hopping over to NAXJA and asking the guys in the Midwest Chapter. There are lots of them in the Chi-town area. They can hook you up with a good reputable shop. The same question has been asked over there before, but I couldn't find the post.

Attitude Performance in Elk Grove Village is the only off-road shop near Chicago that I know about.....though, I've never actually been there.

I think there might be a new place in McHenry, too.....but that's kind of far.

Honestly, that's really the best reason to do it yourself, especially if you plan to actually wheel your rig......cuz if something breaks on the trail, you better have an idea on how to fix it

Thanks!

Thanks for the info and advice. Admittedly I'm not a trail rider but I usually do my own work, sometimes it's nice to know a good place to do things when you don't have the time or just too lazy.
