Looking at another car, need opinions

The ongoing saga continues, another cheaper daily driver has poped onto the radar. It's a 2003 Mazda Protege Mazdaspeed 2.0 turbo, any opinions, observations or experiences would be welcomed.

one of my buddies has the exact car and he's had to rebuild the whole engine because the turbo pushed the compression too high and it broke stuff

if you get it make sure whoever owned it before kept everything lubed properly and didnt leave higher compression pistons in the block

other than that they are sweet cars and fast/fun as hell

My wife had a Jetta once upon a time, it was pretty quick and was easy as hell to work on.

My wife bought a '05 Mazda 6i sport in '06, very nice car. I am a little concerned about the MSP because it seems that they simply bolted a turbo onto the 2.0 without using forged internals.
