Looking for a 9mm Pistol
Hey guys,
I am looking to buy a 9mm. Any advice? Was planning on a Glock 19 or Sig 226, but would like all feedback. Thanks.

Why 9mm? I'd go with a .40 over a 9. The little Luger round just has no knockdown power. It's got range and accuracy but for me that just doesn't cut it.
But if you are hell bent on the "Friendly NATO" gun, then definitely go with the Sig over the Glock. But honestly, probably the best 9mm on the civil market is gonna be any incarnation of the Beretta.

Go for the Sig, they're just as reliable as the glock and more accurate IMO. Not to mention the 226 is all metal. I have a P226 in .40s&w, and it has never, ever let me down.

I have a p226 in 9mm. no probs ever with it and I even bought it used! it came with 2 15 rnd mags, but I went ahead and bought an 18 rnd and a 20 rnd. the 18 doesnt stick out from the grip at all and the 20 does just barely.

Back it up and prove me wrong then..I'm willing to admit if I am. the Beretta is nearly impossible to jam. It fires under water, it comes in multiple different sizes and capacities. It's a lower cost weapon thus cheaper to have gunsmith work done to it, parts are more available...What do you got? I'm no small arms expert but I've owned a lot of guns in my day and that's my opinion. Why not help educate everyone here if your the expert vs. just making an unproductive jab....I'd love to hear what you have to say, please share your knowledge?

Toss in some 9mm Cor-Bon and don't worry about stopping power. ![]() Stopping power of the bigger bullets only matters if you can't shoot. If you shoot them in the face, they will stop. |

I loved my Beretta 96, sold it to buy a Sig. But it was a great weapon.
Only problem with that is most gun owners actually are horrid shots. In any likely home defense scenario you want knock down power vs. accuracy. Considering all the factors of a bad situation the likelihood of being able to have time to aim that precisely is nill unless you are a trained expert. Most casual gun owners are far from it. Truth be told handguns are actually poor weapons for home defense if that's your primary reason to own. Better to go with a 12 gauge. At short range aiming in the general direction will most likely result in a damaging hit.

What good is knock down power if you're not hitting the target? I'd much rather know my wife is able to hit something 3 out of 3 times with a .22 than maybe 1 out of 5 with a .45 |

Hence getting a highly expanding round. Pull trigger till target drops. Even with a 9mm (and I prefer .45...) you can have plenty of stopping power with the right rounds.

No matter which one you buy you'll end up with a high quality weapon, I would personally try running a few rounds through each before buying one since it's going to come down to personal preference anyway.

This is an old debate among gun owners really. It's all just pov until something actually happens. Then the variables are so diverse who's to say a whack in the head with a lamp wouldn't be more effective.

i really dislike the ergonomics on the glocks, the berettas are a close second in that.
look into a cz75 and eaa witness as well as the sigs.
