Let's see pics of your Kayak related Hobby

Let's see some pics of your Kayak, kayak trips, trailer, accessories, etc.....
I'm just getting into Kayaking. Been canoeing for many years, but I want to get an idea of what you have.

Was supposed to be some more of pics of different places I've been. I'm not sure what happened. Must have been the drink.

I'm also working on a kayak/trip trailer right now. I have rough assembled it, just need to take to weld shop.

Kayaking is something I have been wanting to get into, then all of a sudden, wham.... Its snowing out and the lakes are frozen.

Hopefully this year.

Old kayak trailer with Jeep on it. It's a HF trailer with a 12' tongue on it and a set of Yakima crossbars bolted to it.

Very nice. Santa is bringing mine so I'll post some pics of mine on my newly renovated trailer.

My kayak is sitting in San Diego under my parents deck, I just simple strap it to the roof when I take it out.

This off of Fort Fisher on the south end of Carolina Beach. One of my favorite places ever to yak and fish.

And back home on Carvin Cove reservoir, my local fishing hole

And this is how I get them to the water!

Great pics, XJ. Looks like a beautiful place to paddle. Thanks for sharing them.

Wubicon, you mind showing how you extended the tongue on the trailer? I need to do the same thing.

Wubicon 12-22-2013 03:03 PM

If you are near me I'll sell you this tongue. This trailer needs to go away.

It's square tubing that fits the hitch coupler that came with it. 2.5" I think. 0.120 wall thickness.

Runs all the way to the rear crossmember and bolts in the original holes. Hard part was drilling the holes for bolts on top and larger holes for socket to fit in on the bottom. You don't want to be crushing the tube with the bolts, they won't stay tight.

Get a rewire kit from HF and fish it through the tubing to extend the wires.

I can get some pics if needed.

You mind posting pics? I'm doing something similar but I'm using 2.5" tubing welded to the frame crossmembers, then a 2" tube that telescopes in and out for easy storage. I'm all the way down in TX.:(

The primered tube is being welded to the underside of the crossmembers, and then I have a 7' long piece of 2" tube to go inside of it with.

I didn't want to weld to the trailer as its pretty thin and everything else is bolted and wiggles a fair bit, putting a lot of stress on the welds.
