This is turning into a really weird winter so far. Last night here in SW Ohio we had thunderstorms, today it is about 65 degrees and we are under flood watch. Did somebody forget that it is January? This is the same place that has the coldest recorded temperature for an NFL game. Come on with that snow already! Dangit.

I'm with you Todd, it snowed a couple inches over here a few days ago (but has long since melted). I heard that more people down south where you are were getting some semi-serious stuff. This weekend, I went up to Snoqualmie Pass and everywhere from Issaquah and up was covered in about 3-4 inches. I'm originally from Wisconsin so everything around here is kiddy stuff to me. My friends are all like "oh my god, it's snowing like a WHOLE INCH!! Man, that's CRAZY !

I miss those long, cold winter days in WI

Have fun,

Peter

weather exchange

I'll trade a week of 3 feet of light fluffy powder snow and a high temp of 15 below for 1 day of sun and 70 degree temps.

I keep watching the weather to see when West Virginia gets it then I'll be planning a little road trip north to go play in the sweet white stuff .... snow...

It's by no means a large amount of snow, but for those of us who live in the puget sound area we all know that this doesn't happen very often. So this is definitely a lot of fun.... well, to some of us.

I was out last night until about midnight doing donuts in parking lots and just wandering around the streets. My YJ had absolutely no problems getting around. I was hoping I would get to use my winch to pull someone out of a ditch or something, but everyone I saw had cops with them and once the police show up they call a tow truck and won't let me and my RED DRAGON come to the rescue.

Oh well, here's what it looks like this morning. Today is supposed to be sunny all day. It's definitely a nice morning. Still cold as heck but still nice and sunny.

Hey--GO PACK!!!!
Yeah I know. We had a snow day when it just snowed for about 2 minutes and the kids here were going hysterical and put on snow pants (?) . I remember that 3 years ago in 8th grade, it started "snowing" during class and everyone (including the teacher) ran to the windows and were all in awe. I just sat at my desk muttering to myself that none of them would ever last ONE MINUTE of a winter in WI The only way I get a remote taste of a good snowstorm here is by going into the mountains. This week outside temps have been around 25-35. People go outside and put on a million layers and still complain about how cold it is. I go in a t-shirt and it's nothing. I keep telling my friends that a couple years before I moved, that we had a HEAT WAVE of about 19 degrees once. . The one thing you do actually have to be careful about here is that people do not know how to drive in snow. My friend in his Fancy-*** Land Rover just mashes down on both pedals (alternating) while every little $40K traction gizmo comes on and sends us flying around corners. He calls it precision performance - I call it Idiot Systems for people that don't know how to drive syndrom. . It's true: I was in the Cascades this last weekend and saw an F-150, some Lexus SUV, a Land Rover and a Volvo Cross-Country all skid out when exiting I-90. People with those kind of vehicles don't realize that "4wd" or "AWD" doesn't make them impervious to the laws of physics. A Jeep forces the driver to know what he's doing and performs better in the long run.

I am originally from the Milwaukee reigion in a village called Bayside, northernmost subarb on the lake before you hit Ozaukee County. I always thought the nicest thing about Wisco was the seasons were so pronounced. In the spring, it was warm and rainy. The summer temps could go well into 100, while in winter they could go down to below 0 in some cases. We got real t-storms (another thing around here that scares the living crap out of people: One bolt of lightning will make the news and the front page of the times ).

I gotta go, the game's on (they're playing Seattle, but the Seahawks stand no chance playing at Lambeau ). In fact, I'm wearing my cheesehead right now.

GO PACK GO!!!

Figures that a thread about snow brings the cheeseheads out of the woodwork...

Can't say too much, I work 2 miles from the WI/IL state line. It was 53 a few days ago, and now they're talking 6-9" by 9pm tonight? Craziness. Looks like a few inches already and it's only been snowing here for about 5 hours.

Time to get the plow working 100%. Why can't I ever remember to check it out BEFORE the snow hits?

This isn't even good enough of a storm to get me tomorrow off from work.... Waste of white stuff.
