Laptop Value

I'm selling my gateway laptop to someone in my family and would like to hear a fair assesment for it. I bought it for 1,200 (MSRP 1399) with a 3 year protection plan from best buy which expires in december. As I type its getting a new battery and a full diagnostic tune-up from bestbuy. Its model number 7405gx 15.4 widescreen, amd athlon 2 gig processor, 512 mb ram, 80 gig hd, ati radeon 9600 vc, all the media card slots, 4 usb ports. Its in perfect working condition and it has some sratches, cracked plastic around the hinges (the actual hinges are fine), and is missing the little rubber feet.

Speed and size on computers doubles every 18 months on average

I think mine is a little older than yours and is sitting with 60 gigs.

I would say 200-300.

Up here we have Clearing House type computer stores that buy all the new old stock from laptop makers and sell new old computers like what your selling or better for 400 bucks.

You probably shoudnt expect to much from it. You have to keep in mind that laptops only last for about 3-4 years anyway.

Yeah, the three old laptops I still use around the house with Pentium chips and TI chips should never have lasted more than 4 years. You can make them last forever if you take care of them.

You either have Windows XP or you have Windows Vista Ultimate edition. If is the original operating system, it's either Windows XP or XP Pro. If the operating system was upgraded/replaced, then you have one of the versions of Vista, which in this case, would be Ultimate Edition.
