Laptop Size
What is the best laptop size for a college student?
I have a 15" and 17". The 17" is too big to carry but the display is good. I can even see most of the BIG pictures some people post. The 15" is a decent size, seems like I can view most things. What about smaller size laptops? I've never had experience with them. Do you start to sacrifice display?

I have a 16 or 17 inch and it's not too big. If by "smaller laptops" you're talking about netbooks, I wouldn't recommend it. They're built for simple use. Speaking from experience, they're not worth having as a main computer.

I have a 13.4" Dell. Its not a netbook; it has typical processing power for a laptop. It weighs significantly less than a 15" screen, but I have noticed that my screen does not show quite as much vertically as I'd like it to.

I have a 13" Macbook and a 24" external display for when I'm at home. Works great for me.

On my 17" right now. Good for everything but carrying around and finding bags for it.

I'd say get a 13" for portability and an external monitor for when you're at home. If you don't want to deal with an external then just get a 15".

But if I had to do everything over again, I would not buy the 17" again. It's great for watching movies and stuff at home, but I think it's too big for carrying around as a laptop. For me anyway.

15.6" its just big enough to type a long paper on plus it has a number keypad. It will also help with heat issues that smaller laptops have. They are also still portable enough to take to class. When you start getting smaller they start compressing the keyboard more and more. It can make typing papers less desirable. Bigger laptops usually have better video cards for the price, and cool better.

That's what I kind of figured. I could even deal with a smaller keyboard, but the view on the screen kinda concerned me.
