Something is definitely not right there, I was standing next to my chevy 1500 several years ago in VA when it was hit by lightning and it didn't do anything like that, it sent me flying and I seen things I can't possibly describe but didn't burn the truck at all. The electrical was screwy and it melted some wires and the battery was shot, but no damage like in the pic above. Thinking someone wanted insurance money myself.

That will buff out.

Too bad the hardtop wasn't on - could have leaked all over the interior and put the fire out.

(But yeah, that looks exactly like damage from a full electircal fire. Probably after the lightning hit)

It was lightning. I know a guy who worked with the gal that owns the Jeep. Here's the email I got from him yesterday:

Subject: FW: Lightning strike in Vought Parking lot this AM

Subject: Lightning strike in Vought Parking lot this AM

This happened this morning at Vought's Marshall Street Facility.

Condolences to Jane Doe (floor beam ME / Planner) whose jeep got struck by lightning this morning in our parking lot. Hope none of you were parked close by.

Good reason not to sit in your car during thunderstorm!
