Jeep YJ good daily driver?

I just bought a 89 Jeep YJ and was wondering if it would make an acceptable daily driver. i am thinking of selling my 2000 F-150 in favor of the jeep...

That's all up to you. A lot of us use our jeeps as a daily driver myself included. I have too much fun driving the jeep to even think of using anything else.

They're good daily drivers until you throw money at them, then eventually you end up with a 9MPG trail pig.

I will say that 70% of the time I wouldnt trade anythying for having a jeep as a DD.

It does get old having to "lock up" stuff every time I park somewhere
I am often guilty of trying to "beat" a rain storm (& end up getting soaked)
The winter months can be a drag
more leg room would be nice every now and then...

But days I get on the trail and days I can lose the top and beat the rain, it makes it all worth it. (plus my kids would probably disown me if I sold it)

We sold our YJ before we left the island, and were back here in TX for a year before I bought another ... The kids were WAY more excited when I brought home the Jeep than they were Christmas morning !!

A friend of mine drives a body lifted 31' tire YJ as DD, I rode in it quite a few times. If you don't mind the bumpy ride and crap gas mileage, it's pretty good.

Thanks for the replys! I just picked it up tonight and drove it about 35 miles to it's new home... it wasn't too bad! the soft top was loud, but i expected that.. The guys at the bar, where I shoot pool, told me I should have bought a CJ, but when they came oput and looked at it, they said I got a good deal... we are taking it to the river bottoms on Saturday, I think it will do better than my F-150!

The only thing so far that I noticed is it's a bit tough to put it in 1st... maybe the scynchros (sp) are getting a bit old... Other than that I love it!! I might even take it to work tomorrow instead of the truck, it will prob get better gas mileage..

Now I have to decide where I want to spend my money, either on my mustang, or my jeep... what a toss up!
