CJ 10's are normally used for towing aircraft. They're called tuggers.

Kool truck However, it probably sucks as a highway speed tow rig because of the short wheelbase.

Every one of these that I have seen has been 2 wheel drive. While swapping in a front axle would be easy because they were leaf sprung dummy axles, I think you would have trouble fitting a T-case in one. The rear driveshaft is already less than a foot long. You would either have to stretch the wheelbase, or swap the motor tranny into something else.

Edit: I have also never seen one used for actually towing aircraft, we used them to tow ground equipment. Not saying it can't be done but I bet it would be struggling for most birds.

when i bought this it was extremely low geared & maxed out at about 25mph.
The way I understand it they were built as 2 wheel drive but do have a transfer case. The transfer case was permanently locked in low gear for the extra grunt to tow planes.
