Jeep to stop making freedom top In 2018?

So I'll be in the market for a new 4door Wrangler in about the next three years and I'm an absolute fan of the freedom tops on the 4 door models.. I will probably never go back to a soft top for lots of reasons. But I've been hearing rumors of the Wrangler getting a redesign in the next couple years and a rumor is that the removable top will be gone and replaced with a large sunroof to cater to a more everyday family friendly vehicle crowd...what are your guys opinions on this would something like this ever happen? To me the removable top and doors are Two of the biggest things that make a jeep a JEEP.. Another rumor was a very leaned back front grill to help improve aerodynamics.

I read that the top may go due to new crash-safety standards - not some marketing aspect. Apparently, convertibles have some type of exception to the normal standards, and that may be going away.

I feel that many jeep enthusiasts would be very angry if that did indeed happen, myself included

It won't really matter if people are angry because of the law change. There isn't anything FCA will be able to do about it, other than lobby for another change down the road.
