Jeep Extended Warranty

I get calls 2-3 times a month about extending my Warranty. Do I really need one? The person on the phone yesterday said that my 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4X4 was very old and would fall apart very soon and I needed to get it covered before it did!

So far the only warranty item replaced has been the Navigation slash Radio and that was the first month I bought it and it took them 6 months to fix it and it still doesn't work right! Other than that the Brake pads were squeaking after 30,000 miles and those were not covered either.

My previous 1996 Jeep 4.0 4X4 the Rear main seal went out after 186,000 miles and cost me $800 a far cry from $3,600!

The extended warranty is $3,600. I buy new every 10 years and put my Jeep in for service every 3 months to do the oil change and fix the recommended things at each mileage point.

How did they get my name anyway? It seems a different company calls me each time trying to sell me a warranty!

I wouldn't buy it. Of course depends a bit on what all it would cover, but 3600$ will buy you plenty of repairs if anything happens to break..

One thing I'm wondering though: why do you take your 2010 Grand Cherokee to an oil change every 3 moths? As far as I know, WK has a 6 month/ 6000mile service interval.

Jeep Extended Warranty

I drive about 2,000 miles a month, and want to make sure that the Jeep keeps highly maintained.

Yeah I would pass. As said above $3600 would cover a lot of parts.
I talked to my son in law who works at a shop and he's not big on these after market warranties. He says it's a hassle for the owner and the companies try everything they can not to pay.
Could just be the ones he's dealing with though because I have another friend that had good luck with his after market insurance fixing a 2007 Dodge Ram.
I just figure for $3600 I can be my own warranty repair shop.

Ah.. in that case. 6k miles before 6 months that is You're gonna have plenty of miles by the time your Jeep is 10 years old.

I figured as much. I plan on trading it in by 2020. I will have 136,000 miles on it by then. The next thing to go out in my jeep is the Navigation slash Radio and can get an after market one with better features for $300! The hard drive is going out in the Nav system. Hard Drive don't last much longer than 5 years anyway.

Extended warranty calls are the same as any other telemarketer, odds are they are not affiliated with Jeep in any way shape or form.

They probably bought it, same as any other telemarketing company. I still get calls to do an extended warranty on a dodge I owned 12 years ago.
