I like it even though its seems to nice too run in the woods. But at the auto show they said that was one of the ideas they were looking at too replace the wranger or jeeps as we know them.A SHAME IS"NT IT!!!It would look better with scratches!!

Gary 87 Wrangler 4.2 258 with weber carb and TFI upgrade.

I kinda like it. Too bad it'll probably have IFS/IRS and a blown I-4...

kinda slick- but...are those low-prof tires?? its the "Icon", right? i think i read somewhere that it had a 98cid (1.5liter?)four banger, with the stock blower it's supposed to output 160 h.p. before long, were gonna have to build a REAL 4x4 from scratch...

It looks like a nice grocery getter, Its not even a full convertible!!! That Jeep looks to damn complicated, damn, even a YJ is too damn complicated for me. I think they should bring the CJ back, that would be nice but you guys can just ignore me...

Found a 85 CJ7 tub in good shape with
minimal rust. The resto continues....

My thoughts:

At first I thought it did have a folding windshield. Look at the rubber stoppers on the bonnet. Then I realised they were for when the bonnet is opened, and rested on the windscreen.

It's got potential for upgradeability, & I'm sure those wheels wont be standard.

Maybe we shouldnt compare it to older wranglers, but to any other new SWB SUVs coming out in the next 2 years. If you look at it that way, it's pretty darn good!

How does the roof work on it?

If it's an additional model, more power to them. If it's a Wrangler replacement, the wrolds going to hell! The coolest thing about the TJ is it still looks and functions like a CJ-7.

(I'd rather spend my money on a 1962 CJ and drop a 4 banger diesel in it. All the torque I can use and 45mpg to boot!)

2001 Amber Fire Sport, Soft top, hard doors, Dana 44, 3.73, 30", K&N, HL-4, Crimestopper Alarm, Mopar Eng./Tranny Skid, Amsoil all around, Class III hitch, Cargo Carrier, Optima Red Top...I'm broke!

I don't think I can agree with you on that perspective Jeff. If you compare current model SWB jeeps to current "other" SUV's, there is just about no competition.

I would hope that with time Jeep could improve with time. Not digress. However, this new yuppie/eco friendly style is absolutely unacceptable. Why? IFS/IRS, nuff said! Even if they did stick with solid axles, it has the visual appearance of a geo tracker of suzuki sidekick. If that's the future of jeep, then all the time I spend fighting for land rights is a complete waist!
