interpretation of a qoute
"A mans ego is the fountainhead of human progress" J. Rand
I was given this qoute and I can't figure out what exactly he means. The quote seems positive but I veiw ego as a negative. Thanks for the help

It is really simple, it is the ego that makes us strive to do better than the next man purely so we can brag about it. Why did the space race occur? Because we wanted to be first so we could brag about it. Although ego is not the best thing it definitely does spark advancement purely because we, as humans, are always striving to be the best at something and with that strive comes constant advancement in just about all aspects of our life. Make sense?
