When will people (and posters here) ever realize that no matter how hard the bible thumpers try to convert other "non-believers"by quoting the bible that most likely they will not be converted and vice a versa for all others. Who gives a flying Fwhat who believes in really?

Millions of people have been killed in the name of religion. People will never see eye to eye.

We are no more than evolved animals. You don't see wolves hanging out with elephants. Why would you expect anything different from people?

An aquaintance of mine is a Born Again... he has stated on many occasions that I am going to Hell because I am not a "believer". I told him the great Spaghetti Monster is going to save me from his make believe place. He just got divorced for a second time and smokes weed like Cheech.

I just wanted to present that article to you guys, I'm not debating the existance of God, just where the line is between believers and non-believers, and why the line is in that position.

In related news, the pirate graph reminded me of this:

Let me start by saying that I am agnostic.

I guess I look at it like this...

We're in a world that is tearing itself up over religion. The way I perceive it, we also have the potential to have a world that would tear itself up over science versus religion. It's always been that way, but religion had the upper hand in the old days. Scientists were persecuted and killed for going against religion. I think the balance has a potential to swing the other way where religion could start taking an unreasonable beating from science.

The religious need to not stand in the way of science. Easier said than done, because you can look at stem cell research and the such and see the things that crop up. I think all decisions need to be made logically and morally, however.

The scientific need to quit looking for ways to elevate themselves over those who choose faith... or more accurately, stop bringing those people down. A religious discussion can quickly cross into a philisophical one. A religious person who embraces science while releasing themselves from literal religious texts can probably find a way to blend scientific knowledge with faith in a way that cannot be proven or disproven. It goes back to faith.

I think we worry too much about other people. It is elitist and bigoted to try to draw a correlation between intelligence and faith in my opinion.

Intelligent people, who think they are more intelligent than other people, 'less likely to believe in God'

fixed it for everyone.

Anyone willing to discuss that?

I'm guessing that you are trying to make a conclusion based upon chart using God in place of money versus amount of problems. If you have more God in your life exponentially you will have less problems?

Yeah, that makes sense (insert sarcasm here)

What about the alter boy seeking more God in his life only to be rewarded with forced sodomy?

What about the tribesmen and women happily going about their bizz and Columbus lands on their shore extolling the virtues of his God only to slaughter and rape your people because you resist his forced insertion of religion upon your heathen ***? (see a pattern here?)

Amen to that.

I love religious debates. Such great entertainment.

Stamos - Your hypothesis is that men believe in God in order to be anally raped?

Anyone up for a serious discussion? Why DO some people believe in god and some people don't? Is it REALLY intelligence? Is it personal life problems? Is it at all related to socio-economic status?

I would venture to guess that it is more complex than trying to find one, two or even ten reasons.

It's about personality, in my opinion.
