Insanity! I hate Regions!

I'm sure if Regions is doing this then other banks as well are. I made a withdrawal from a non-regions atm and expected there to be a fee from that bank. I then look at my regions account a few days later and have "OTHER BANK ATM WITHDRAWAL FEE" on my account as well. So not only does the other bank charge but my own bank charges me. Double the fees!! Yippie!!

Sorry just a rant at how stupidly unfair banks are.

All banks do this so that is why you pick a bank with many locations like Chase or Bank of America.

I don't really like my bank either. I mostly use cash for everything.

Well I normally use my American Express card to pay for everything. I was in Atlanta and didn't know how to get to the nearest Regions atm. I owed someone money(in ATL) so I couldn't wait and pay them later.

There is a note on Every ATM I have ever seen that says your own bank and the bank of the ATM will charge you a fee up to such and such amount to use it.

I use 5/3 and get a bunch of non fee ATM transactions at non bank ATMs every month.

I don't think I have ever used an atm that didn't notify me of the possible charges from both banks. I rarely have a need for cash but if I do need cash and am not near an atm, I just go into a store and do cash back.

Go with a Credit Union. They have like 25,000 ATM's you can withdrawal from nationwide for FREE. Also, you can use the 7-11 ATM's for free to make DEPOSITS and withdrawals. Vons, Stater Bros, Ralphs etc. usually have Credit Union or "Co-op" ATM's inside them. Plus, historically, they have better rates on deposit accounts and loans.

EDIT: BTW, the Staples Center in LA charges $4 to use their ATM! I know this from experience.. no bueno!

All banks do not do this, only the Monster Mega Banks that want to bleed you for every cent you have. Find a local bank or credit union and move your money there. They only take advantage of you if you bend over and spread 'em!

Many community banks and credit unions do not charge a foreign atm fee. In addition, many of these smaller banks join forces with other small banks forming a network, so you can go to the other small banks atms fee free. Do your homework and switch banks. Banking should almost always be fee free...

USAA gives me back all of my ATM withdrawal fees every month. I generally dont use ATM's much but it is nice to know I dont lose any money at all when I do.

I use Compass Bank and if you mail them your ATM receipts they will credit your account for the amount other banks' ATMs have charged. I never use ATMs anymore, but its still nice to know I could get my money back.

I use Regions and I needed some cash while I was on vacation in Utah. I ended up paying $7 for using the ATM to get $60 out of my account.

Don't you just love to have to pay to get a hold of some of the cash that you let the bank barrow?

wow. There's a local bank (with a branch right by me, no less) that does charge-free ATM usage.

and to boot, my CU does two free ATM withdrawals per month. meaning that if I need to take money out, I can just go to that and it's free =D

If you have PNC and $2000+ in the reserve account they'll reimburse you the other ATM fee.
