Actually, the number he provided me for his "home" number doesn't even have an answering machine attached to it. I have his actual work number thanks to another forum member who tracked it down based on this guy putting where he works into his profile.

Then call him every 15 minutes at Food City. Sign up for Skype at $5 for 3 months and it will be cheap, cheap. I wouldn't let the thief rest for a minute.

Just talked to him at work again...
Now he's telling me that he didn't get a chance to call me back last night. Ok, maybe he's being an irresponsible 17 year old, but I know if the tables were turned, and I had made an honest mistake, I wouldn't let the phone sit there and not call the other guy back. According to him, he went to the post office yesterday, and the package went to some other place, but he can't remember the address. The post office is going to try to get it back, and he is supposed to check back tomorrow for an update. To me, this sounds like a load of ****. He said he gets off work at 9 tonight, and I asked him to call or text me with the confirmation number from when he shipped it out as soon as he gets home from work. If I don't hear from him, I'll be ringing his cell phone again at 9:30.
What does anyone else think of this post office story? If they deliver something to the wrong address, do they attempt to recover it?

Bull****. I'm 17 and there's no way in hell anyone under 18 is allowed to work more than 8 hours a day. He's ****ing with you again IMO. It takes five minutes to call someone. Absolute bull****.

I agree that it's bull****, but aren't labor laws like those variable from state to state? I mean, I know my employer broke FL law when I was 17 and working 18 hours shifts without breaks, but florida is a "right to work state" which means employees can opt for longer shifts and whatnot. Anyone know the labor laws for VA? When I just talked to him a few minutes ago, he did say that he was at work all the time.

Pennsylvania sucks. My previous employer was hell-bent on making sure I didn't clock in early, clock out late, pick up shifts that would put me over 8 hours a day, and what not.

Post office won't "try" to get a package back. The most this punk could do, "if it went to the wrong addy" is hope the person that received it is honest, and returns it. Or mail a letter to that address requesting they return it.
I still say we go up there. Might take me a while coming from Miami...but I'm up for it. I'll see if any of my aerial advertising connections fly in that region... We could get a banner flying over his work place saying he's a lying cheating dirtbag... My boys will fly anything we ask...

His story sounds like the same old song and dance. Next he'll give you another excuse. If it were me, I'd tell him to return your money since its been so long getting your part. If he refuses, tell him you are going to have to press mail fraud charges and call the local sheriff/police. You might contact your post office and explain the situation to them and ask if they have any advice. Its a shot in the dark, but you never know.

I'd just call the local police there. He's obviously giving you the run-around. A smiling cop at his front door should do the trick.

This reminds me of a Mercedes thread that started because a scammer. They did a lot of similar things in locating his work, getting his myspace info, cell phone etc. and then circle jerked about how they were going to do something. That's about as far as it got....tough talk on the interweb.
I hope ya get your money back. |
