Here in Texas yes I know; other side of the country. But if someone owes you money its a "civil matter" cop's can't do crap. I know this because a business down the street from ours owes us a couple grand $5,642.21 to be exact. They service/sell hot and cold power washers like for car washes ect. ect. ect. My Dad asked me to call up a couple of my sheriff buddy's to go down there and they all told me that they can't do anything because of said reason.

Yea, thats right, I'm 18 and I like cops and law enforcement ( I'm on the way to become law enforcement).

Well, congrats, man. You're on your way to fighting the good fight. And you are right that the cops can't do anything if someone simply owes you money, BUT... if someone asks you to send them money through the US postal service in exchange for something that they don't provide, that is textbook mail fraud.

Postal clerk: "Are you sending anything liquid, perishable, explosive, biological, or hazardous?"

Me: "Uh...... no?"

Doesn't show up on google earth.
Yes, it was a bit obsessive compulsive, but I looked in to this. It wasn't on Google Maps, Mapquest or Live Maps. Searching just for Country Cafe in Clintwood VA shows this:

http://maps.google.com/maps?ie=UTF-8&q=country+cafe+Clintwood,+VA+24228&fb=1&dtab=0&ei=TKGjSNbPMpiKoAOchI33CQ&cid=11394691002477014807&li=lmd&z=14&t=m
It's one of those places. You know, where "the location shown on map is approximate", but if you were in Clintwood EVERYONE would be able to tell you how to get there. That address shows up in any number of search locations as being the Country Cafe. There isn't a business that I could find registered in the State of Virginia at that address or with that name.

Maybe mom and dad own it, maybe it is just a back water greasy spoon and the owner doesn't care if his dishwasher gets mail there. I don't know.

Clintwood is only an hour or so from Pikeville, KY. Had I known about this on Thursday of last week I would have stopped in and asked the boy to send you your money.

That's down the street. The crime took place over the Internet; wire fraud. The money was sent via the USPS; mail fraud. Now, I seriously doubt that the FBI or Postal Police would get involved in such a small matter, but you just never know.

(276) 218-0294 does come up in a reverse search as a mobile number. Everyone, right now, run and get your phone and call the kid. Demand that he send the88thpianoman and tell him that you will keep calling until the88thpianoman posts here that he has his money back.

Haha send him a cotton mouth, I'll mail him a camel spider. Yes sir we have them everywhere here now. Because of the BIG brained soldiers that thought it would be cool to send one home ALIVE. It also dosent help that we live in the desert here and we have 1.12 million acres of military land for it to thrive.I'm not bashing on the troops my whole family is some sort of government or law enf. But why send a living spider that is easier to kill when you shoot it then stepping on it or using a fly swatter . I'm not bragging or anything... well a little it's only about the size of rhode island. Haha I'm just kidding. I'll drive my 10 mpg cj-5 and poo on his lawn. Sorry about the last part, it wasen't originally me I just edited it for content

I'd be game, though it's a bit of a road trip from Vermont.

Think he'd know what was coming when a few dozen Jeeps roll up on his front lawn?

Seems like a punk kid that knew he couldn't get in trouble as he is a minor, So he took advantage and pulled a scam. Driving there would be sweet, But since you have his address, And nothing worse than a liar and a thief, Lets all send him a little present. In a shoe box, Anything you want, Nothing would be funny, Dogs droppings perhaps, Be creative, And send it USPS 2 to 3 day, Everybody do it on the say day, No return address, he would have alot of worthless boxes. Make sure he dont scam another jeeper. Nothing illegal, Just a friendly reminder why you dont cheat and steal.
