No one reads the fine print either which clearly states when and when you will not receive reimbursement and recourse and the second they get screwed expect PayPal to back them up.

As mentioned in a prior post it's not uncommon for someone to have a city address but live outside the city. It used to be the same way in Elkhorn, NE. I used to live in a neighborhood on the edge of town and if/when the cops were called it would be County Sheriff, not the Elkhorn PD (Of course the Elkhorn PD had nothing better to do so you would always see them tagging along with the Sheriff's )

Anyone who logs onto the NCIC (National Criminal Information Center) or any state Law Enforcement Telecommunications System has a username + password. Usually there is a camera posted around the terminal if it's in a law enforcement desk. Every input and info request is logged and saved. I doubt your "source" is dumb enough to provide you with information garnered from it. If they are, they deserve the repurcussions.

I never lost a dime, but from what I gather: if someone empties their account, there is no money left to refund to you.

I did get about 4 Paypal credit cards with different names at my address in about two days. My account was closed as soon as that happened. I have no faith in their security.

I havent either luckily but I am very weary about shipping to unconfirmed address and as soon as I get paid for parts I empty it right into my account to keep the person from doing a false chargeback and running away with my goods. Luckily I work in a bank too.

They can try and go after a persons bank account or card if it is linked to their paypal address but people have ways around that so paypal can not always recover funds. If you are covered up to their certain amount, they will just put the person's account in the negative which doesn't have much of an affect either. I don't think having a negative account on paypal affects your credit at all but I could be wrong.

Their security is a joke just like ebays.

I lost $28.00 to paypal.

I paid $18.00 + $10.00 shipping. The ***** sent me a set of cracked, scratched, falling apart taillights that were the wrong ones! So, as everyone suggested, I went to Paypal claims and disputes and they told me to send the tail lights back to the seller with shipping on my dime. Shipping them back was going to cost me another $10 and she was willing to send me only $18 back - the cost of the actual taillights... leaving me with a $20 loss on the deal either way

On top of all that, she gave me a negative rating. What a deal

Your source either knows this but wants you to think he is cool or he is too stupid to be in the position that he is in. My bet is on the former.

Who said i was going to go out on that limb for a stranger? I have used him locally when we get abandoned cars or whatever, but i am not going to go flying off the handle for an internet crusade.

Alright now ... I worked Police lookups and here's the deal. We're civilians working for the PD. They make a traffic stop (or whatever reason they might have) & call us for information, sometimes with multiple requests. They might give us a name, licence number, whatever. We look up the person(s) with the info we're given & pass that on to the cops. Frequently the person might be from out of state, it makes no difference. It's what we do all day long. I know there are strict laws against using the system for personal use, and ALL calls are recorded & logged, but who's to say that this lookup of D. Hays' info didn't originate from a police request?
Understand that I'm not at all advocating breaking the law, and my integrity prevented me from ever doing so. But in my town I know how the system works and it would take a LOT of fishing to prove that I slipped in an isolated lookup for my own use, especially in the midst of a series of requested searches.

NOW BACK ON TOPIC.

Wow! Over 700 rounds fired and no clear outcome. I'm down with the convoy idea but, I am disturbed his Mom was brought into this and her pic was put up. I know it was up on myspace, but visiting Danny's sins upon his Mom is not right.

Danny should refund the money and pianoman should send the rusted POS back. Done deal. Danny should pay for the shipping.
