After speaking with him, he gave me (276) 926-5557 for his home number, and (276) 218-0294 for his cell. If those turn out to be wrong numbers, I will call every Hays in Virginia if that's what it takes. At least I know his work number is good, though.

They need a disclaimer in the for sale section:

If you screw someone, we will track you down and beat your ***.

It still sounds like this kid is giving you the run around. I ship part using USPS all over the US and international. And there is no way it would have taken this long to get from VA to FL. Second the lovely people of the post office are not going to look up the confirmation number for him. He should have kept the confirmation ticket they gave him. That is if he did ship it? Did any one find out who the Jeep is registered to? I would call his parents.

p.s. you guy scare me

How do you go about tracking down registration?

There are a few different people searching sites out there that you can pay a couple bucks to and they will give you the info.

Yep, lack of personal privacy is a great thing.

You can have personal privacy, you just can't go around the internet posting all of your information for everyone to see.

Just going to point out that we're not using any information he didn't put on the internet himself. His license plate is in a youtube video he posted, his profile tells us his place of employment, and he has a myspace... people who are concerned about personal privacy don't put that kind of information out there. And in some cases, lack of personal privacy is a great thing, because otherwise people could get away with scamming money from other people without it ever catching up to them. Jury is still out on whether or not that is what is going on here.

I wasn't necessarily speaking of what you all are doing. Mainly stating an obvious fact of our computer backed world. It's good to be able to track someone down because they ripped you off, especially if they are so quick to post personal information on the web. Now you all understand why people want to black out their license plates when posting pics. You never know when posting a picture will turn around and bite you in the ***.
