I was scammed by daniel hays _ 98xj
One month is too long to not hear from someone that you've sent money to, no matter what extenuating circumstances there may or may not be. His PM box remains full, and he hasn't responded to the PM's I sent him before his box filled up.
Unfortunately, I have to take a lot of responsibility for being in this predicament, as I didn't take as much care as I should have, as I can't locate my records of what address I sent it to. I screwed myself over by being careless and assuming that I could automatically trust someone simply because they are a JF member. Lesson learned the hard way ![]()

Money order. I'm pretty sure I've found the address I mailed it to from him selling something on another forum here: http://www.dslreports.com/profile/1420167 but without being 100% positive, I don't want to file a mail fraud report

After a scammer gets your money, he always has a sad story to tell. I bought a set of headers for my Camaro a few years ago. First they were "lost in shipping", then "he lost his job", then "he had a death in the family". I finally filed a claim with Pay Pal only to have them deny my claim. I considered that $350 tuition at the school of life. If you have a physical address you can press charges.

The license plate on the XJ in the You Tube video is Virginia KLT 2629. This might help law enforcement track him down.

I'm nearly certain of the address beingDaniel Hays 856 Fairview Rd Clintwood, VA 24228 Is there a way to cross reference the license plate and address to see if they correspond?

Once you get his information you can file a police report. Good luck in getting the scammer.
And thanks for letting us know.

According to www.address.com, that address comes back as the Country Cafe and someone named Michael Kincaid.
http://www.address.com/search/ReverseAddress?housenumber=856&street=Fairview+Rd&city_zip=Clintwood&state_id=VA&localtime=survey I sent you a PM with something else you can try also. his profile says he's 17 years old. This could be a step dad.

It looks like you can do a reverse search on a license plate, but it's going to cost you a few more dollars.

Keep us updated. I don't like internet scammers because it makes things bad for all the honest people. I hope that it is an honest mistake and I'm glad you finally got in touch with him.

Jeep Forum, you guys are amazing! In 40 minutes I go from having no recourse to having his work phone number, license plate, and his myspace. Thanks a ton. I'm hoping this turns out to be nothing more than a mistake from the post office and a misunderstanding, but I never would have known either way if it weren't for you guys.

doing a people search for the last name of Hays in Clintwood, VA I got this number:
(276) 835-9310 It looks like it belongs to a Brittany Hays and Bobby Hays. Might be worth a shot calling and asking around. |
