Microsoft Word..I need it.
Is there anywhere I can legally/illegally download it? If not, what is the cost of purchasing it by itself? I searched Microsofts website but can't find any information.
Thanks

You can always try open office.

I say this not to scold but to warn. I used to work for MS and they pay people to search the web looking for people attempting piracy. Going into a public forum and asking about illegally downloading software is a BAD IDEA.
You can still buy word seperately:
http://www.mwave.com/mwave/viewspec....3&RSKU=3304443
but the suite is a better deal if you have any use for the other apps.
http://www.mwave.com/mwave/viewspec....0&RSKU=AA24010
Or as was said, use openoffice. I was given MS office for free when I worked for MS so I haven't tried OO but I am sure I will given enough time. I have heard good things.

Usually if you're a student, you can get it dirt cheap. I think they sell it in our bookstore on campus for like 20 bucks

Check your campus book store, I can get the whole Office suite for 60 something bucks.
But I'm going to go ahead and give an x4 to Open Office. Its a very competitive package compared to Office and its totally free.

Yea, I just bought Office 2003 through work using the Home Use Program for $19.99. I'm sure they have something similar for students as long as your going to that school, only problem is when your done with school or quit the job, you are supose to uninstall it...

I have to warn!!!
PIRACY IS FROWNED UPON AND THE FINE IS HUGE!
Open office is 99.98% compatible and free. student versions of office is cheap. MS Works has Word and is even cheaper.
If you have a pirated copy and either you go or you let the program go and update it will track the MAC address/ip combo and add it to a list. you might not be the lucky number they pick to enforce but is it worth $25k.
