There's no such thing as "un-owned land".

I doubt it. He has your address now. Chances are he will show up in the middle of the night and take out what you owe him for damages on your Jeep.

Sleep tight.

He could have been a Nigerian prince for all your know. I wouldn't have given him anything... I wouldn't have even stopped and shut my engine off. That could have been an enraged hillbilly with a gun.

Legally? It's your word verse his. Get your story straight with your friend. Say you were fishing in a creek near by and the guy came up all angry and said "I know you kids tore up my field, give me your info".

If the cops didn't see it happen and you don't admit to it, not much else anyone can do, no matter what info he has.

You can call the cops and say he took your info at gun point and he'll have pictures of your info on his camera/phone. Goes both ways.

Not really.

You tear up a farmer's field, you are messing with his livelyhood. They have a hard enough time making ends meet when times are good, let alone with the prices of fuel and feed being what they are.
You may have cost him alot of money in repairing damage. Even if you personally didn't do any damage, maybe somebody else did last week, and the week before, and the week before..... Now you are on the hook for their damage.

He's probably sitting around with a couple of good ole' boys getting liquered up on Wild Turkey, stewing about all of the recent damage done to his property.

For your sake, I hope I'm wrong.

Good luck.

Or he is a level headed country boy knowing boys will be boys and all the hell he raised when he was a kid and just wanted to scare the piss out of you (which he did). It's possible his intent wasn't to get you in trouble, but to point you in the right direction of being a better person and have you think twice before doing something stupid again. Just saying.

Never spent any time around farmers, have ya?

"point you in the right direction of being a better person and have you think twice before doing something stupid again".

That's classic...........

My bet is that he worked his *** off when he was a kid, not out tearing up other people's property. I'd guess he still works his *** off 7 days a week 365 days a year, along with his wife and kids, keeping his farm running. I'd bet he hasn't taken a vacation, or sick day in 30 years.
I'd also bet my last dollar he had a 12 gauge loaded with bird shot on his front seat when he came out to see who was tearing up his property.

Just saying.

Hopefully he learns a lesson. I would be lying if I said I never did anything like that when I was young and dumb.
