This is pretty much how most of our roads look from October-ish until April-ish, in between snow falls (neighborhood roads have more snow). This picture taken 1 week after the last time it snowed.

The rough wind and endless snowfall is bad in north Texas. I was traveling northwest on a distant, out of town vacation and I had to turn back after 40 miles. This was highly disappointing, because I had planned my vacation for quite a long time. Like many others, the trip was cancelled due to unusually bad weather and bad timing again. To make matters worse, I lost $100 for a room reservation that was too late to cancel.

One thing is certain, however. I am glad that I turned around. It was no fun waiting in either direction for several minutes at a time as traffic stopped for unknown reasons. If it had not been for the Media Center in the Rubicon, I think that I would have gone mad with the road travel delays. At least the vehicle performed flawlessly in the snow.

Christmas day it's supposed to get up to 61. Going to New York in a couple weeks, so I'll get my snow fix then. No jeep though, just a rental car. Oh well.

That's a six foot fence with a six foot snow drift taken about three minutes ago. Christmas blizzards are fun.
