Take the nuts off with a wrench...

[QUOTE]

I got stuck on this step. What size wrench do I need. Also the nut you showed was shiny mine is painted, how do I remove it without scratching or nicking the paint? Please help I am thinking of just removing the whole hinge itself but your way sounds quicker.

I would suggest putting vaseline on your nuts prior to wrenching them....the size of the wrench depends on the size of your nuts...not all nuts are the same size.

The Vaseline will keep your nuts from the abuse of the wrench and will also shine your nuts giving them a glossy glow which is how nuts should look.

OK now we are getting somewhere, I definiatly don't want to abuse my nuts. So if I understand you correctly I first have to scratch my nuts to remove the paint and then apply valvoline.......no wait vasoline (important detail will highlight that with yellow highlighter)to them to shine them up. Got it. How much torque do I need to remove my nuts?

ok I used vaseline and wrenched and wrenched, the nuts would not come off, and for some reason they turned blue

I got it towed back to the mechanic and asked him to keep it there while I find out from the people on the internet what he did wrong.

Anyone have any ideas?

I can't stop laughing.

So can you choose which color you're jeep changes to or is it random? I'd really like a blue jeep so this is important to me.

Wheels fell off, uh.....My brother's, friend's, sister's, son's prom date had the same thing happen, it must be a common TJ problem.

(I can't type that with a straight face because we have all seen reponses like that in TJ tech.)

This is done in the wire cutting part of the directions....

In your case instead of cutting the (yellow) wire....cut the (blue) wire....

Here is an example of how I did it....

I went the extra step and cut the (pink) wire also which turns the TJ into the much better respected CJ...
