When I first got my own vehical it was a 94 Ford Ranger, plain jane. I was paying $1400 a year full coverage for a 3 year old vehical. Now I pay $1600 a year for my Jeep, Suzuki sidekick and my motorcycle.

insurance is for street queens. Or maybe not that, just that i will have a snow storm of tickets if i drive mine on the street in daylight.

i was paying about 120 when i first got mine at 18

19 and I'm paying around $100 a month for a 97 TJ SE. I'd assume they jack up the rate on us not only because we're kids, but because it's a vehicle with a higher tendency toward offroading than most other vehicles, and is also 'prone to roll overs'. Although I suppose I can't really refute the whole roll over thing since my TJ has a salvage title since the insurance company ruled it totaled after it rolled over in the NC mountains

Looking to upgrade to full coverage though, this way if (when) someone hits me in the parking lot at school, I can take the insurance money and buy some cool stuff

Best thing ever. I pay $109 a month for liability, collision, and comprehensive (with a low deductible) for both Jeeps, so less than $54 bucks a Jeep for full coverage.

I would shop around if I were you. You may not find anything much lower than what your paying just because of your age, but it would certainty be worth checking.

How do I afford it?

I have a job. I pay it myself. I manage my money.

My 05 is cheaper then my 97 with full coverage on both. The mileage doesn't make a difference.

My wife is 20 under USAA, like one accident and two other filed claims, I only pay $68/month for her. But I have liability + a tiny bit more.

With me added (no tickets/accidents in last 3 years) it would only be $120 I believe.

Just dont get full coverage and drive carefully/defensively.

Looks like the insurance company found out that I don't live at home anymore... now I have to get my own insurance. Looking at about 130 per month with USAA.

There's a 'ticket' on my record for speeding, yet I've never gotten a speeding ticket. Without that ticket, Geico wants 107 a month, but when I put that ticket on there, it goes up to 215. Damn Aiken police dept. is screwing me over. I'll have to get a guaranteed quote before I purchase from them.

I have USAA and with my 94 F250 I am paying $39 a month with almost max medical amounts but no collision/comprehensive/etc. Its going to go down even more when I am active duty. Oh and I am 18 with a speeding ticket, 2 Accidents (1 at fault 1 not at fault), 2 vehicle violations (cop ran out of time to do more), suspended license, and for 6 months I was driving the most Illegal vehicle on the road in 3 counties. When I turned 18 my monthly rate for the jeep turned into my 6 month premium for my truck and my jeep.

Oh and how do I afford it? Well right now I am working 2 Full time jobs and saving the cash as much as I can.

Mine is about $1000 a year as a second vehicle on my moms insurance policy (liability) for the Jeep, $250/yr on my own policy with the bare legal minimum liability on the bike. Full coverage would be stupid expensive.
