It's not fair to flaunt USAA....none of the other companies can come close so the comparison isn't really a consideration. If the OP could get USAA I'm sure this wouldn't be a thread.

That being said....I LOVE USAA! I'm so happy I'm a member....one of my favorite things....is when another insurance company calls saying they can lower your insurance costs....they ask who you're with....I say USAA....and they say "thank you have a nice evening"....

So i have the same plan my parents have on there cars.

You need a different insurance company. If you wrecked it, they would give you less for it than you pay in premiums in 9 months.

For my '98 TJ and '86 c3500 I pay about $3200 a year. I'm 20 in NY with a squeaky clean record and pay out the ***.
Full coverage EVERYTHING on the TJ
Liability on the dually.

Comprehensive coverage on an '85 dodge doesn't cost much because they will only pay what the vehicle is worth. You'd be lucky to get 2 grand from the insurance company for it, minus your deductible. And if you DID make a claim, they would likely jack up your rates on your next vehicle.

I lied to them about my age. I'm really 24 (with 26 years of practice at it!)

My whole fleet cost less than that INCLUDING a year's insurance! Join the military and USAA coverage is WAAAAY cheaper!

With Geico - $191/month for a 2009 Civic Si and 2000 Wrangler Sport.

So like $2,300 a year.

I was 24 when I got my Wrangler, with 2 speeding tickets (not sure how many points were on my liscence), but I was only paying $850 a year for my Wrangler......(my insurance company gives 5% discount for AAA), but now that I'm 25 and one of my tickets came off my record, I'm down to $750 a year. And I always thought Mass insurance was expensive. My G/F in NY with a PERFECT driving record pays $1350 a year for her XJ and thats when she was still 24.

I am paying less than $1000 for full coverage on my '05 tj, and paid about the same for liability only at 16 years old on my s10 that only cost me $1000. Age is a huge factor, but vehicle make/model don't help. Jeeps can be seen as high risk vehicles by insurance companies especially when a new driver is being insured due to the perceived high roll risk, and inexperience of the driver. Nothing you can do except get a cheaper car and pay liability only, or buck up and keep driving a sweet vehicle for 16!
