How do y'all under 25 afford insurance?
I'm 16 and have an 05 TJ but insurance SUCKS! when my parents added me to their pre existing car insurance plan, it went to (whole family) $4500/yr.
they said no way and put me driving a RAV4 to school and our insurance (whole family) is $2500/yr. Why is Jeep insurance so expensive? and how do y'all other young jeepers afford insurance/get cheaper rates? Thanks!

$2000/year for one vehicle? You got comprehensive coverage with no deductible? Are you making payments on this '05 TJ, requiring comprehensive?
Get a '97 TJ for $3500 or so, liability only. I've never paid more than $1400/year in insurance, for one to two drivers, one to four vehicles.

It's not the vehicle, it's your age and location.
I started out paying about 5000 a year for liability for a car I paid 900 dollars for at 17 years old, Im now 24 and im paying about $2200 a year for full coverage on my grand cherokee, and liability on my wrangler. NJ sucks. - Alec

If it is possible in TX, then we only have liability for it and yes we are making payments. I think if we put me as a secondary driver on it, and put my mom or dad as the primary, then the rate will lower. I will still have the jeep as my DD but just keep that on the down low to the insurance company, Humana I think it is.

Why do you have full coverage on a 85 Dodge?

The Ins Co WILL have to pay soon for repairs on another car for an accident that is your fault, almost guaranteed. I was 16 a really really long time ago and now my two kids are over 25, all my friends now have kids over 25, and every one of those kids totaled out a car (or two) before age 20. The average rates are high because the average expense for your age group is high.
It gets better though. I pay $1300 a yr for my '93 Jeep, my '01 Durango R/T, and my '84 Mercedes. Most Ins Co's will charge your parents a lot for their ins just because you live in the house, even with your own car and your own ins, because you 'could' use their car and hit something. Tell your parents that if that is the case, and one of them is over 50, they should look into AARP Ins through The Hartford. They do not care who else is in the house as long as they have their own ins.
