I took my fiance on a weekend get away to the beach I had a ocean front suite . We dinner and after dinner I had drew a bath for her with those tiny candles around the tub and rose pedals floating in the water when she got out she had asked what that was for. then I handed her a rose with the diamond of the ring sticking out just a little bit. She never let me get the words out she just said Yes.

A few weeks later she said she knew the whole time cause her sister over heard me talking to her parents about asking her to marry me on our next getaway and she had told her

I wrote "Will you marry me" on a napkin at Applebees one evening while she was gone to the restroom. When she got back, it took her a while to see it but she was one excited little gal. We've been married about 8 1/2 years now. I was married 19 years the first time.

I don't remember much about it except waking up and wondering if I could reach what was left of that gallon of Wild Turkey without having to chew my arm off.

I dropped the ring off at a nice restaurant earlier in the day and had them bring it out on the dessert cart on a covered silver platter with white roses after we finished dinner.

Did she know you were a lawyer prior to your marriage?

I wasn't. I got married between my first and second years of law school. We're "high school sweethearts."

It's my interesting duality -- I'm a complete bastard and a hopeless romantic.

Took her to the botanical gardens in the middle of the OKC metro on Christmas day after dark. We walked around through a forest covered in white Christmas lights, holding hands and talking. I stopped on a ledge that gave the perfect view of the city skyline and the Christmas lights all around us, took a knee, and asked her to marry me. That was one shock. Then she saw the ring. Another shock. The trick is to get the jump on 'em, so they're too stunned to say no. Worked for me. That was five years ago.
