how did you/will you propose to your loved one?

this seems like a bad idea http://consumerist.com/5163686/do-not-hide-an-engagement-ring-in-a-frosty-and-then-hold-an-eating-contest?soundsfat

so let's hear your stories.

Over the course of a year I proposed three times. The first two times she said no, she thought we should wait. The third time she said yes.

The rings were progressively bigger each time.

She kept the big one after our divorce.

We did too (Lao) but I wore the traditional sheet and sash. You should have seen the looks on my friends faces when they saw me.

I guess I'm just a little old fashioned. When and if I ever propose I'll just hit her over the head with a club and drag her by the hair back to my cave.

Nice

I was only 17 when I proposed, I figured I'd kill two birds with one stone. I put her engagement ring in a box, in another box, and so on until the biggest box was almost as big as she was...I think she thought she was getting a dishwasher or something. I proposed on Christmas, so it also doubled as her gift. 17.5 years later, we are still happy, although I think she is a gluton for punishment
