highly irritated ebay rant

I have a bunch of BP gift cards I put up for sale on ebay.
the auction was for 7 days and I even had a winning bid.

For some reason in their infinite wisdom, ebay took down the auction!!!!

No reason given, no email sent, i just logged in and it was gone!

WTF?!?!?!?!?

I hate ebay but it really is the only place to do this sort of thing. craigslist is full of thieves. I have never had a problem with a buyer on ebay except a couple of non paying bidders. If i dont get my money i dont ship it, simple as that.

anyone have any idea why they might have removed it?

Before you get all bent they may be looking out for you. The bidder may have been someone that took the last guy he bid on his item. List them again only list it as a shorter auction. They will sell if the money is right.

they could simply remove his bid if that were the case.

sorry I'm already bent, just looking for reasons. Live help is less than useless as they just sent me to a page to email them.

I'm just looking to get 90 cents on the dollar really. I get BP gift cards for a gas subsidy at work but there is no BP near me and I dont like them anyway.

yeah lots of times I put stuff up for a 1 day listing just to get it sold quick. most people wait until the last 5 minutes to bid anyways.
I dont know why I am telling you this.. you probably know this and it has nothing to do with your post.

but that sucks that happened to something I was selling last week

yeah I had it up for a 7 day auction to guage how much interest there was since I have never sold gift cards before.

I may repost it for a shorter time.

"Multiple Gift Cards cannot be combined under a single listing"

How STUPID is that?!?!?

then they say you can only list one card per week per user id. This just keeps getting better!!

I've never thought of selling gift cards on eBay, that seems like a huge risk to the buyer because you could always send a card with .50 on it and claim that the store is the blame, you had $50 on it when it shipped. How do you handle this?

Why don't you just drive over to a BP station and try selling them to someone pumping gas? That way you can prove to them on the spot that they do indeed have the correct amount of money on them.

I dont have a BP near me or I WOULD just use them.
I could find one but that would take me out of my normal drive. besides I can always find gas cheaper than BP on my route.

Thats true for anything on ebay though. You dont know what you are going to get until it shows up.
I know they have a certain value and they never expire.

I reposted the auction for a single value of $500 with a buy it now of $450. we will see if that falls under ebays rules.

Seems Ebay is a necessary evil. I have said many times I am done with EBAY. But I just have too much "stuff" that I can sell on Ebay an get SOMETHING for it rather than deal with idiots at a yard sale wanting to give me $10 for a PA amp worth $300.
Just recently got a VGA extension cable off Ebay. Only problem is what they sent me wasn't the cable in the auction. So I emial, and email and email the seller. No response. Don't expect one. I try to file a dispute with Ebay. I have to wait 10 days after the auction ends before I can file one! That outright stupid!! Screw it, I will never get my money back.
Leaving bad feed back will only get me bad feed back and the "mega seller" will have Ebay magically remove it for them. In this way Ebay enables dishonest sellers that yell "Check my feedback!" because they bad feedback Ebay removes for them.

I agree. The new rules they are putting out next month will change this but to the bad I'm afraid...
Buyers cant get bad feedback with the new rules. I have only had to give bad feedback to buyers a couple of times but its always deserved.
listing fees are going down but final value fees are doubling.
