High Mileage Jeeps

Just wondering how high the mileage is on the Jeeps some of you use as daily drivers and what to expect with engine wear and any other problems. I figure the bad gas mileage is something we just live with. I am thinking of switching to mobil one oil to see if that helps at all with the gas mileage. Thanks....

17mpg!

Just checked my gas mileage.

Thrilled....I think thats the word. Even though in a couple of days it'll drop once I go from a 28inch tire to a 33.

synthetics

I bought my jeep with 17k on it, the mileage stays aroud, 16.5 air on and 17. air off in town driving, I took it to carlilse saturday and got 22.2 highway at 65 to 75 mph, I switched to synthetic on my first oil change, there was no difference in mileage. the thing you get from synthetic is long engine life, I use mobil 1 when the price is down, and when it go's up I use penzoil platinum, Mobil 1 price varies from 19 to 27 dollars for a five qt bottel, Penzoil Plat. around 18 for a 5 qt bottle.

My 97 se is aroun 135k, its not daily driven though. Although I wouldnt't hesitate at all to drive it every day if my other car didn't get 2x the gas milage.

To be 'seen to be cool' is going to cost you gas money .. otherwise we'd all be driving Hondas
We don't drive Jeeps cos they're cheap to run (in any aspect). Any 6 or 8 cyl vehicle in the 4 or 5 liter range is going to drain the tank faster than a 2 liter 4 banger (unless it's another Jeep).

I've got 203,000 (bought used) I was sure I would be buying a motor but so far so good. The Jeep gets way better gas mileage than my 4x4 Dodge 1500. So I am happy

219,000km on mine. Also bought used. Runs mint. Doesn't leak or burn a lick of oil, and never overheats (now). Run whatever is on tap at Mr. Lube
