Hey Florida folks! Waterpark question!

My sister's family and I are planning on going to Orlando in December for a week (12-20). My sister would like to go a water park but we aren't sure what the temperature ranges are like at that time. Is it worth going to a water park in the winter season? Would it be too cold or even open?

If this is something to consider, do you have any suggestions on a good fun waterpark?

Thanks guys!

iirc the temps should be in the 40-70's and most parks that i am aware of are not even open.

If you go to the website of whichever park you want to go to it should tell you if/when they're open in winter.

As for the temperatures: it depends on what you're used to. Floridians will not get into the water unless it's mid-summer and the water is the only thing cooler than the air. Europeans however seem to thoroughly enjoy freezing their speedos off in the middle of January.

Being born and raised in Orlando, I can say that, yeah...we're not getting in the water unless the temp is 85 or we're wearing a wetsuit. Wet-N-Wild used to close for the winter, but I'm not sure if they still do. I haven't lived there for over 5 years.

A quick look at their website shows they are open through Dec 31, but they open at 10:00 and close at 5:00

Temps can very wildly in Central Florida in December. I spend Christmas in FL every year, and have done so for the majority of my life (a bunch of relatives used to live in Miami, then moved to the Orlando and Gainesville areas.) Anyway, I've seen it 90 degrees in late December, and I've also seen it snow. Both are extremes, but it is normally 60-80 degrees.

Thanks guys. We are going for 8 days and are planning to go to as many parks as we can. I have lived in Colorado for about 12 years and I have never been to any of the parks (disney, universal) so they want to take me to all of them. They are from Puerto Rico and my dad lives in Tampa so they have gone to the parks many times. The first two days it will just be my sister, my nice (3 year old) and me. So we are trying to figure out what to do for those three days. We are going to Epcot on the first day so one day is taken care of. Just not sure about the other 2 days. Once my brother in law comes up we will hit all the parks for the rest of the week. Anything fun (maybe free) we can do outside the Orlando area? Thanks guys.

With a 3 year old, go to the magic kingdom. Our 2.5 yr old and almost 5 yr old had a blast there.

There are 2 water parks in Florida that are open year round. One is the Atlantic Ocean and the other is the Gulf Of Mexico.

brilliant

OP, if you're just going to disney parks i wouldn't worry about it too much. but you have a 50/50 chance of regretting going to a water park in december (if they're even open). you can still get pretty wet at a park like epcot and the like.
or you could drive a few hours south and i'll show you a place you can get real wet- but bring the Jeep

The beach was my thought to, so we'll see when we get there. They wanted to buy tickets in advanced to a waterpark, but I talked them out of it.

Speaking of jeep... I've been wanting them to come up to Colorado for a while now and they keep backing out on me. They say its too expensive... That's bs. We'll probably spend much more at disney!
