HELP!!!!!

I have a 97 TJ.
Why will a YJ top not fit a TJ? I just bought (was told it was a TJ top) one from what I thought was a good sorce but I think I got jiped. The top fits but not good. The top front corners dont seem to seal properly and appear to have been cut down. The rear holes on the sides dont line up either. I have soft doors and they binde a little. I ignored the doors thinking they may be a little differernt than the full steel doors. Im continuing to surf the net and I dont know much about jeeps. Im a rookie and I hate that guys are taking advantage of that.
Thanks,
Bryan
