Having Excel Send Text Message Alerts
I am becoming involved in managing testing for some laboratories at work. I often have multiple tests running at the same time. Each has its own schedule and different tasks/checks that must be performed throughout the test. For instance I may have a test run for 3 weeks, and during that time I will have to take pictures and or measurements periodically. Keeping track of the schedule while maintaining other responsibilities is difficult, and I often forget things.
So what I would like to do is set up some sort of text message alert system. Would it be possible to have Excel follow my schedule and send me text alerts when a schedule task must be done? I found some information on setting up an email alert system using macros, but I am away from my computer most of the day. Having something sent to my phone would be ideal. Any ideas?

Why does it have to be excel? Can't you just use Outlook Calendar to schedule all of your appointments and send the alerts to your phone?

Use a macro to send to an email address but put it as your phone number. Should be something like xxxxxxxxxxx@yourcarrier.com.

I am interested in hearing about some other programs that could do what I am asking, but it can't cost any money. We won't be buying anything. Quote:
This is all unfamilar territory for me. Any suggestions on how to implement this are welcome.

Depends upon what you guys have in house. If you're using Outlook with an Exhcange server on the back-end, then you can setup public calendars.

yeah i'd just look into using outlook, transfer the shedual on there. you can put specific times of day and it can be shared.. i''m not 100% how to share it. but i know my dad did it. he had the calendar on his comp in his bedroom shared to a computer in the kitchen to make the calendar more accessible...
once you get everything into outlook you can sync your phone to it and your golden |
