I ate what? ![]() | Can you not take the 1911 and then trade one of your other ones and maybe throw in a little cash too so you could have both? I mean do you really need two .22's. You might also check into the XD's 9/.40/.45s they are awesome guns and can be had for around $500 at most shops. Not to mention if you went with the 9 or the .40 you can get it in a sub compact with the 3" barrel, it's the ultimate conceal carry weapon in my book. __________________ Ken 99 GC Limited - 4.7L HO V8, 6.5" IRO HC LA lift, F&R D44s locked & trussed, 242HD, IRO TC Skid, KMA Bumper, 33" Yokohama Mud Rovers 2006 Saturn Redline -2.0L Eaton supercharged I4, GMPP Stage 2, Custom Tune, AEM CAI, Falken 912's (13.76 @ 103.85) 2004 Sebring Convertible - (her's) 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 - CAI, Soft 8's, 31's 2000 SV650 - naked, integrated tail light, sliders, corbin, pilot roads, RK chain & sprokets, D&D full exhaust, FactoryPro Stage I jet kit, +4 Ignition Advancer, Barnett race clutch January 2009 Grand Cherokee of the Month (GCOTM) |

Ridin' with the King | Ditching the 1911 would be a dumb thing. Slow your shooting until you can get something you can shoot cheap. __________________ '05 KJ CRD and '00 XJ Classic > Stock DDs '88 YJ Sahara > Weberized, HEI, Shackle Lift, Herculiner, more on the way |

Gold Member | I gotta agree with what others have posted. I'm a handgun freak myself, and have guns that I totally dig. BUT....... your pops gives you a gun-- you take it, and keep it to pass on to your son, God willing. Put it aside. Shoot it if you like, don't shoot it, if you like. But take it, and never even consider selling it. If you want the 229 (which is one that I own-- still prefer my HK to it though , then save up and buy it, or as one of the other said.... trade + cash one of your current guns for it.Respect Pops. Take the Colt and keep it until you can pass it on. I've got two daughters, and if either of them ever take firearms as a hobby, I would be forever grateful to be able to pass some of my guns to them. |

Registered User | Keep the Gold Cup. You can ALWAYS go down and have your ffl order up a Sig. Good luck replacing the gold cup. My Dad had a Colt Python years ago. He sold it to buy a Winchester Model 70. He was going to buy another Python when he had the $$$ but the prices just kept going up and up and up.... Then he retired and the dream was over. He could have easily picked up a model 70 any time in those years but the Python was special. My sister, my Mom, and I had a hell of a time finding a Python we could afford to make his Christmas AND Birthday dream come true last year and it is not as nice as his first one. Don't get me wrong, Sigs are great. I just wouldn't trade a Gold Cup for one. If you can't afford to shoot the Gold Cup much it will just be worth that much more in 10-20 years! Edit to add: GE2 makes a good point. This is your Dad's gun. That will mean a lot to you later. __________________ Silver 2005 Rocky Mountain Edition TJ D30/D44 3.73, 6MT, 4.0L |

ECTR Co-Founder | well all my guns are actually from my dad. They were all given to me on Christmases. And my dad is actually encouraging me to trade it on a Sig, so i know it wont hurt his feelings. As far as trading my other guns, the only one i can see doing that is with the ruger 45/22, but for what it's actually going to be worth i would be better off keeping it for when i have a kid or something like that. I guess I'll just hold onto it for now, and if a deal comes up later for the Sig i will weigh out my options. And even if i do get rid of the 1911 i dad says that the python is mine when he dies. __________________ 97 Jeep Wrangler 4.0, 5 speed AX-15, D44 & Ford 8.8 w/Detroit - 4.88, NP-231, OME 2.5" coils w/1.25" spacers on front, 33X12.50R15 BFG M/T's on 15x8 Eagle alloys, Banks Header, Banks Monster Exhaust, Brown Dog MML, Rhino Liner, Tuffy Glove Box, AtoZ Rockers, Optima Red Top Battery. I'm pretty set on a Sig, i really liked shooting dads P239. The gun is a bit small for my hand which is why i am going to go with the P229. I also like all the features of the Sig... double action and hammer release especially. __________________ 97 Jeep Wrangler 4.0, 5 speed AX-15, D44 & Ford 8.8 w/Detroit - 4.88, NP-231, OME 2.5" coils w/1.25" spacers on front, 33X12.50R15 BFG M/T's on 15x8 Eagle alloys, Banks Header, Banks Monster Exhaust, Brown Dog MML, Rhino Liner, Tuffy Glove Box, AtoZ Rockers, Optima Red Top Battery. When my Dad past this past year I inherited one of his prized possesions and I know I will never trade it, it will go on to my oldest later in life. It may not seem like much to most, but he bought it when he was 16 years old and kept it immaculate, it's an old High Standard Double Nine, nickel plated .22 revolver. Beautiful gun, I was glad to get it, but not especially under those circumstances. But no matter what guns I own, and I have 9 all together, that one will be my most treasured. ![]() __________________ Ken 99 GC Limited - 4.7L HO V8, 6.5" IRO HC LA lift, F&R D44s locked & trussed, 242HD, IRO TC Skid, KMA Bumper, 33" Yokohama Mud Rovers 2006 Saturn Redline -2.0L Eaton supercharged I4, GMPP Stage 2, Custom Tune, AEM CAI, Falken 912's (13.76 @ 103.85) 2004 Sebring Convertible - (her's) 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 - CAI, Soft 8's, 31's 2000 SV650 - naked, integrated tail light, sliders, corbin, pilot roads, RK chain & sprokets, D&D full exhaust, FactoryPro Stage I jet kit, +4 Ignition Advancer, Barnett race clutch January 2009 Grand Cherokee of the Month (GCOTM) | |
