I have some questions for you about this.

1. When did you pay the money?
2. Was exactly were you buying? You say a lift kit but you got a air intake?

Do you have a link or proof of the transaction? You mentioned paypal, so you must have paid with paypal. If he gave you an air intake, sounds like at least a shipping error. If he really would have wanted to rip you off then he wouldnt have done anything besides give the money.

No he really ripped him off. He did it to me as well. Paypal won't do anything unless he gets so many hits on his account in a certain amount of time.

I do have all e-mails and pm's. I have saved everything.

I "bought" a sway bar and got a set of 4 pro-comp shock boots. Mine wasn't so bad but still. He refuses to answer his phone or return e-mails now. I just got with the police today and I am going to let them deal with him.

Personally with all the scams around maybe the forums should do away with the selling part. Just make it a "heads up I have stuff on ebay" section.. It may save a lot of grief for some fellow jeepers

Ebay is a better place to sell anyway.
Don't have a credit card to start an account, take it to an Ebaystore.
At least there is some protection there.

That is a terrible answer. I have bought a few things on the forum and have always had great dealings with people here. Your answer is a huge case of overreaction.

Thanks,
Al

ROF (rubicon owners forum) made it so only supporting members can sell things. but ANYBODY can buy. I don't know how prolific their scams were, or if anything specific sparked the change, but if it gets really bad on here I think that is a better option than just doing away w/ the entire section.
But until that day, let a mod know if you think you've been scammed. JF administration has information they can give to law enforcement.
And there ARE ways of preventing a total loss...like certified checks from the post office. I believe it becomes mail fraud you don't receive the product.

*edit* If it comes down to it, the $25 it would cost to become a supporter is probably cheaper than what you will make on your item. And if you have several items, it shouldn't be a big deal, especially since over 100k registered users have the ability to view it.

I hope this guy doesn't ruin it for everybody else... there are scams everywhere, even in the local newpaper ads... I've bought and sold here in the forum with great success, and I really hope it stays that way!!!
If an ad looks to good to be true, then be suspicious...buyer beware

True scams are everywhere.

Maybe the Admin should start a poll as to what direction to go...
I do like the suggestion of being a supporting member to sell here.

It only take a few to ruin a good thing, even if it's posted as buyer beware.
As for my ebay stuff I don't box it until it sells, That helps me avoid the shipping of the wrong item.
the scammers will also make it tough on legitimate sales.
This is a good place...

this instance isn't going to change the way jeepforum runs the for sale section. the forum is in no way responsible for the outcome of any transactions its members have amongst themselves.
this is simply a medium for you to do business. be careful who you deal with, and research them a bit before you send your hard earned money. be leery of using money orders, and mailing cash. this is a brutle world we live in... mind your money.
