Guys im sorry....

Guys im sorry... but I have decided to buy a Unimog 404. Its a 6 passenger model with a soft-top on the back. 87 hp...its a beast. Talking to the guy today, if I can buy it for $6000 ( he wants $6500) Im gonna pick it. I'm feeling kinda frisky...I might drive it from GA to TN. That oughta be fun. I'll prolly get a freind to drive down there with me and pick up a couple gallons of gear oil and drive it back. I'll keep yall posted. (Still keeping my XJ though)

Unimog

Factory off-road ability greater than a Hummer (of any kind) .. equal to a military tank. Portal axles and massive tires - factory!!!

You drive a 4x4 and you don't know of Unimogs?!?!? If Jeep is the Mercedes of off-road vehicles, Unimog is the Porsche.

I have seen about a dozen Australian Army Mogs barrelling down the highway in front of my office today. I would give my left testicle for one.

My friend's father has one. I'm still dying to go for a ride in it.

Actually, the Unimog WOULD be the Mercedes of off-road vehicles

Along with the coveted Gwagen. Jeep would then have to be the... "Jeep" of off-road vehicles. But Jeep is a Daimler product now too... OMG I'm so confused....

Mogs are awesome offroad!!!(my dad has one), but it is the slowest truck I have ever driven....seriously. Ours has the radio box on the back, so that will make a difference, but damn, that thing is soooo slow! I'm talking 20 mph up hills you didn't even know exsisted. I hope this isn't going to be your DD. Their great on the weekends though, and I used to drive mine to school (mogs get more women than jeeps do!!!)

Talking to kurt of Unimog West (Apparntly the guy in Georgia's Unimog didnt run). So this is a diffrent one. Just got an email back from UW "tan camo
one can be had for $5250 it runs very well has 4883 kilometers on it". $5250!!!! I just walked into a great deal. My now the delema is, where do I park it? My homeowners association is all over me for just changing my oil in the drive way, I cant imagine what the would do when a huge tan-camo beast is in my drive way. Oh well, Im sure I can get away with it for a few weeks. Also I have to make sure that this thing can be road legal in TN (XJ is my DD). Well here are some pics. Enjoy.

i'm not so sure. theyre definately cool looking, but give me a jeep over that any day. If it's their offroad capabilities your concerned about you might as well just get a catapillar, or better yet a big old mining truck.
One of my favorite things about jeeps is the short wheelbase, and the compact size overall. A unimog would be fun, for like hayrides around some big farm w/ a whole party in the back. But as for the trails, I'd much rather have a nice, little wrangler.

i agree...they might be highly capable offroad but it would make a more suitable work truck (w/ a different engine of course). that thing is too big for a lot of the trails i know of. i think you'd have more fun running the trails then trying to maneuver through them.
