Grizzly Man

Has anyone seen this documentary on Timothy Treadwell?

It is fascinating, for two reasons:

1) His fearlessness of Grizzly's allows him to get right up next to them in the wild. It is incredible the footage this guy shoots (and incredibly stupid to get this close to grizzly bears) .

2) He clearly has crossed the line between sanity and respect for these wild beasts and I suspect he is thinking he is "one of them", and as it heads towards the foregone conclusion of him finally getting eaten you see someone who clearly has been in the woods way too long. You see (and hear) the footage of someone not living in the same world as the rest of us, both literally, and figuratively.

A very interesting documentary that includes some incredible shots of Grizzly's in the remote wilderness of Alaska.

If anyone saw it in the theater I'm curious as to whether the movie version included the audiotape that captured the bear attack that killed both him and his girlfriend.

There was a thread in another forum I go to yesterday about him. Supposedly the real tape was destroyed after the investigation by whoever they deemed owned it...I think it was a friend or maybe his family. It was supposedly too horrible to listen to since grizzlies begin eating their prey alive...they don't kill it first like big cats.

He shares the tape (that has the audio) with a friend (the movies director) and advises her to destroy it and never listen to it. It is on the movie where he does this. He is visibly upset when he listens to it and tells her not to. The guy is a nutcase and it is interesting to both see the bears, and someone who went off the deep end and just walks right up to them.

The soundtrack was done by Richard Thompson, an amazing musician who I encourage everyone to check out: www.richardthompson-music.com

Yeah I saw that.....Discovery Channel I think...
Mr. Treadwell's elevator definately didn't go to the top floor !
But like you guys said, the photography and just the sheer bravery(stupidity?)
of being able to tape so close is just phenomenal !
