GPS Through Laptop
ok i have a Garmin GPSmap 76S that i want ot try to run through my laptop. My goal is to be able to load a map and tracks for Paragon AP into my laptop, hook the gps up to my laptop, and be able to follow the maps with it and have everythign displayed on the laptop. does anyone know of a program that will allow me to do this? free is always better, but cheap is ok too. ease of use would also be a selling point!

From what I've seen, OziExplorer is the program of choice for this. It will accept the real-time data from most any GPS unit & track your position on the map. I'm not at home or I'd post the link, but you can google it or check Stu's site for a link.

Delorme's Topo USA software set should do just that. In 3d even. I use it alot. You can even get your garmin to work with microsofts new streets & trips software, with voice commands like OnStar does.

I use Delorme Street Atlas USA. I got it on sale at Best Buy for $79 and it came with a small GPS unit. But I can also run my Magellan too. The software has voice command that tells you how to navigate such as upcoming turns etc. You can also program it so that you can query for info such as next exit. All hands free.
