Well obviously the trailer you were going to see wasn't very far from the park manager's trailer so you just hopped in the golf cart.

Read what he said:

yea man i mean its not like they didnt warn you

even if the rule is stupid, they make the rules and you can either abide or face the consequences

i mean think about how many stupid rules thier are in everyday life that we just got to suck it up and abide by

This thread reminds me of this time I was interviewing a guy for a job. I asked about the previous job he had at UPS. He said he got fired. I asked why? He said "I got fired for wearing two pairs of pants".

I was really puzzled. I asked him to explain. It turns out that on the way out of the UPS depot, the security guard would randomly search people. He figured, if he wore 2 pairs of pants, he could steal stuff and put it in the pockets of the inside pair of pants and then the guard would only search the outside pair of pants pockets. He obviously got caught but his thinking is that he got fired for wearing 2 pairs of pants.

sorry i havent replied back to this thread, i just got back from work.

but i do understand the non compliance thing with the employer. i know i didnt follow her rule to the T but the way they handled the firing was pretty ****ty if you ask me. i mean when i put my next application out and they call my old employer they may say he didnt comply with company policy, but they would also have to say i am early to my shift every day, extremely productive and have the highest signing rate of any agent there and i work the least hours out of everyone.

as for the grow up comments, how many 18 year old kids do you know that worked 2 jobs throughtout college in a top tier business school with a 17 hour credit schedule. if you ask me i am one of the more responsible teenagers out there.

but thanks for the replies, im not going to do anything about the firing, it happens, ive learned my lesson and have moved on.

see ya down on Lake Monroe if you're ever out my way

I would file a wrongful termination suit against them. They didn't provide a vehicle for the job so they can't complain about the one you chose to use. Plain and simple.

Ditto. Personal vehicle used for company business means that they cannot say anything about your vehicle and the way you use it. If they provided a vehicle for you (say, a Cadillac), then you would be required to keep it in the state that they specify.

I used to drive my YJ on 33" tires, no top, no doors for work.

I also used to drive my YJ on 38" tires, no top, no doors, no windshield for work, and the bosses hated it, but, couldn't say anything because it is my personal vehicle that was not provided by them to do my job.

thats what i figured, i mean if they cared so much about what i drove around to work that they should give me a vehicle to drive around in. ive had to borrow my bosses car to take a showing every now and then because a mom or somebody couldnt get up into the jeep to take them on a showing. should i be fired too because my jeep sits too high from the ground?

when i go pick up my paycheck next week im going to go ask my bosses boss why i got fired, cuz i never did ask why

As long as it meets the state's motor vehicle safety codes and requirements, I don't see the problem. It's like she's asking you to make your vehicle 'more legal' on top of it already being legal.

I can totally understand from a client's point of view how they might feel apprehensive about riding in a lifted vehicle with no doors, though. Would some safari doors have sufficed? (I asked earlier, but my post got dakuda'd.)

well i told her that if someone was uncomfortable riding up front without doors that they were more then welcome to ride in the back where there were doors. i mean if they just didnt want me in the office i would have been more then welcome to put in my two weeks

Might not seem worth it, but it will cost you almost nothing and you stand to gain quite a bit. I would also file this and see what happens. It will end up tarnishing your "reputation" if somebody has to call your previous employer.

File it, file it, file it.

I don't remember squat from my HR classes, but isn't there some sort of law or reg that prohibits previous employers for saying defamatory things to a potential employer? Maybe it was just that most HR personnel will just acknowledge the person worked there? I can't remember, but does anyone here work in HR and have any recommendations?

the way an employer told me was that its a + or - kind of thing. like the only thing thye can say is they left on good terms or they left on bad terms

now is this rule followed 100% of the time ? no

in our small little town all the major businessmen know each other and sometimes they do bad things to employees moving back and forth

like the manager of our pizza hut is really good buddies with a IGA manager - and a girl i know wanted to quit pizza hut and go to IGA . well she put in her 2 week notice and left on good terms, but the pizza hut manager begged her to stay because she had worked there for 3 years and was a great employee and he was too lazy to train someone to be as good as her. well when she tried to get hired at IGA she was turned down even though they were hiring and she was qualified.

all because the 2 owners were old buds and the Pizza Hut manager asked him not to hire her so she would come back to pizza hut

i kno this seems kind of outragious but im pretty sure the pizza hut boss was trying to get in my friends pants the whole time she worked there so maybe that explains it

I have a question though (sort of)...as awesome as a doorless XJ looks, I would assume it is illegal. I heard the reason it isn't illegal on a wrangler is that there is that 8+ inch door sill that extends up.
