Glock 22, 40 cal

my buddy has a Glock 22 .40 he is willing to sell to me for 350 with a holster and 2 clips. is this such a good deal i should jump on it? i have been beginning to look for a pistol (mostly looking at 9mm) but if the price is right i would consider it.

i did shoot a Glock (.45) today and it was nice but had just a smidge too much bang for something i would consider a learners pistol.

anyhow, is this a great deal or should i pass?

The .40 S&W will be a little easier to handle than the .45 ACP and still has more knock down power than the 9x19mm.

Ask him to let you shoot it, see how it handles for you.

That doesn't seem bad. How many rounds do the clips hold (10 or 15)?

A Glock 22 with 2 MAGAZINES and a holster is a great deal for that price. I'd jump on it.

I wonder how many rounds are on it and what generation it is, though.

Thats a good deal, and I would probably jump on it.

Personally I would re-sell the pistol to pay for a different gun though. I've shot a Glock 22 in .40 s&w several times, and I'm not a fan at all. For me, the recoil is snappy to the point of being uncomfortable to shoot, and makes accurate follow up shots difficult. I think its just because of how light the pistol is. This is just my opinon though. I prefer pistols to be a little on the heavy side when firing a caliber that starts with a 4.

However, you may fire it, and fall in love. But before you commit I would get a little range time with it.

Around here, $350 could be a so-so deal or a great deal. If it is pretty new, near new condition, 15 round mags, case, glock mag loader, paperwork and all that, it's a steal. If it is 10 years old, well-worn, 10rd mags and no other accessories it's an ok deal. It would have to be pretty trashed for it to be a bad deal around here. Gun prices can be pretty regional.

the thought of buying it and reselling it for a little more to pay for something i really wanted has crossed my mind. one problem i am having is it is expensive to go to the range and rent guns to get some test firing in.

how is the price of ammo of a .40 vs a 9mm?

Here's a link where you can look up the prefix of your serial number and tell how old it is. Very handy.

Wow - thanks for posting that. Handy indeed!

To the OP: 9mm is quite a bit cheaper than .40.

I used hit the range about once every 6-8 weeks or so and go through about 150 rounds. I'm not an avid shooter and hit the range mostly for proficiency. With ammo going up in price, my shooting practice has gone way down. If you plan to shoot a lot, 9mm may be the way to go.

I love the G22 and the caliber. It serves me well.

I got my .40 glock 23 for $400 brand new at a gun show in 2006, love it, carry it daily

as for the snappyness there are a couple of mods you can have done that are fairly cheap to make them kick a little less

does it have anything done too it? i.e. night sights, etc, stuff like that to me would add value
