Getting out of a speeding ticket

Hey all,

What do you guys (girls) think is the best way to get yourself out of a speeding ticket and escape with just a verabl warning perhaps. I foresee a few tickets in my future, not because of erratic or insane driving or anything, just inevitable to be doing 42 in a 25.

What has worked for you? Any police on here with some pointers?

Matt

well, instead of doing 42 in a 25, do 25 in a 25. skip the whole talking your way out of it. and people wonder why insurance rates are high for kids...

Speed limits that are 25mph are usually in and around neighborhoods. Children play in neighborhoods. If you were going 42mph through MY neighborhood constantly and would not stop after warnings, I would make your vehicle not roll anymore. Across the street from my house my neighbors have a basketball goal which hangs over into the street because their driveway is a slope. Their kids play out there a lot. One day while the parents were out there with the kids, a car came speeding past and wasn't paying attention and had to slam the brakes. Needless to say that driver got a verbal bashing from those parents who tried to get the lisence plate number, but the car sped away too fast. Do you see how disastrous that could have been? There are speed bumps throughout except for about 120 yards till a stop sign, but *insert expletive here*'s insist on running that 120 yards as fast as they can.

Here's an idea, own up to your mistake and do not make it again. Take some responsibility. Your parents should be teaching you that, but obviously parents nowadays are lacking. If I were your parents, you would pay the full penalty and do some community service, and likely be without a vehicle for awhile.

I'm sure the police will tell you the same thing we are (but not in so harsh a wordage)

do the speed limit *******

you'll be amazed at the LITTLE difference going over the speed limit and going THE speed limit will take to get you to your destination.

Example...

Going 10-15 mph over speed limit from PA to VA: 2 1/2 hours
Going speed limit from PA to VA: 2 1/2 hours

FYI, BOTH those times, traffic was the same... so there wasn't any diff in how much traffic there was.

Yeah, how does that work? If you go, lets say, 12.5 mph over the limit, for 2.5 hours, you should be approximately 31 miles farther. Of course that assumes that you have a relatively clear road and few stops...

Your police department recieved this email just a few moments ago... to police@trumbull-ct.org

To whom it may concern,
I am a member of an online forum devoted to Jeeps of all kinds. Recently a resident in your jurisdiction posted a message complaining about getting a speeding ticket for going 42 mph in a 25 mph zone. This kid's name is Matt Felner and he drives a 1996 Silver Jeep Grand Cherokee. He was asking advice to get out of this violation with just a warning. Here's a quote from his message...

Please penalize this child as is appropriate to teach him some responsibility, which he's obviously not getting at home. Thanks for your time.

Hell if I know... all I know is it took the same amount of time to get from PA to VA no matter what speed I took

don't forget, add in where all the traffic jams are too... lemme see if i can describe this right... say I go 70 in a 55 for 70 miles... all the sudden I hit a traffic jam/accident. all that time I gained going that speed is wasted because I'm stuck in traffic I MIGHT NOT HAVE BEEN IN if I was going the speed limit for those same 70 miles...

Not if you consider the above story and my experience with kids like him speeding through my neighborhood each and every day.

You are not the police, nor his father, don't try to be. That was an ******* move, not necessary.

And he didn't get a ticket, he was asking for advice incase he did get one. Learn to read.
